BICS trained
« on: September 07, 2008, 01:59:01 pm »
Somebody I know works for the local council and has been trained in window cleaning by BICS (British Institute of Cleaning Sciences), would there be any advantage in getting certificates or not for commercial work purposes.

He was basically saying on the course you have to measure liquids for trad, tape plug sockets, cover flooring etc.

When I do trad on commercial I use pure water with no detergent, he says i would fail due to the fact i wouldnt want to use fairy liquid, cover sockets or flooring such as carpets.

What do you think?

I'm BICS trained,.. it was interesting and informative, but as far as the window cleaning part of it goes, you will learn very little.

It looks impressive to put it on the quotations etc when you're going for new contracts though,..

Taping plug sockets  ???  ???

Does water conduct electricity  ???  ???

Can you not let water into plug sockets then?

Is it dangerous??

I know it does sound a bit poofy!

Pure water window cleaning apparently isnt in the equation with BICS.

It didn't cost me a penny!! I got it through a government funded training scheme. I didn't even have to apply,.. just got a phone call out of the blue one day asking if I'd be interested!

 :)

It has gained me a couple of new customers, and it did change the way I do some of my cleaning work (Not windows tho!),.. but I only did it a couple of months ago, so its too early to tell yet.
