Applying Protector Kote
« on: September 04, 2008, 11:00:49 am »
Having found out that Speedliner will crack if applied over plylining, I need to find out about Protector Kote.

Do you need to thin the product down with xylene, or can it be applied straight from the tin?

Just like Speedliner.... Protecktacoat is best applied to the metal bed of the vehicle rather than the plywood lining. Water would still end up getting underneath the ply and rust the van...

Rip out all your wood, remove any trim you don't want to piant, mask off any area's that need it. key the area up REALLY well with some scotchbrite ( and lots of it) , hoover it out, I wiped mine clean with some cell thinners I had, then when all super clean and dry, mask - stipple the Protectacote on ( but don't mess about with it too much), leave for an hour of two, then apply the second coat - leave at least over night, longer wouldbe better.

JOB DONE.

Thats how I did mine and I very happy with the result.

If I get round to it, I'll post a pic :)
