Its a well known fact by savvy webmasters that Google cant spider then list any of the topics on this forum because it is password protected.

For eg: Googles spiders find the home page for Clean It Up but cant gain access because it needs a password.

Admin can quite easily allow guests to view topics but not post, create polls or vote etc... until they become a registerd member accepted by Admin/Moderators.

Or

Create an advertising page and the guests cant see the rest of the topics?

What a waste of a huge advertising resource, this would give Clean It Up members massive exposure on the net. Its also a well known fact that forum signatures is an excellent way to advertise your business.

Signature eg:

The Window Cleaner

Liverpool, Birmingham, London etc...

Google would spider this signature then list it exactly as you see it above with the forum post following it.

Surley Clean It UP wants us to get as much business as we can.

I would not post on this forum if that happened as would'nt many savvy web users, I post to help people, I would not want all my customers reading some of the posts put on here by me or others

How is my site coming along ?
I am getting too old to be around people who  don't understand the concept of  loyalty and honesty.

Ok then, Admin can quite easily setup and advertising page where the customers only see the adverts not the forum posts. That problem is solved.

So back to my original question. Do you think Clean It Up should open up to Google now?

If CIU opened up to google I think quite a few posters would stop posting and probably delete their accounts IMO

If CIU setup a new page outside the forum specifically for advertising,... would you actually pay to put an ad on there?

If so, you'd be throwing your money down the drain. CIU gets a small amount of traffic from cleaning professionals, but its links/keywords etc etc are not aimed at the home owner, so your advert would be seen by a completely uninterested audience. CIU doesn't even have a google pagerank, so not many ppl will even stumble over your ad by accident.

Opening the forum to Google would generate much more traffic from the general public,.. but as has been stated ppl (me included) would delete their accounts.

It's not about the money. It's about customer relations.

How many customers could mis read your posts and interpret something different into it. I for one wouldn't take the chance, and am not prepared to lose customers of my own doing and gain a bad reputation just for trying to be helpful to other window cleaners.
I'm not a gambling person. I only take calculated risks so I would delete my account if CIU went google friendly for our customers.
