I'm looking to go on a rug cleaning course, pref one that includes training on all types of rugs from basic to high quality.
Can anyone recommend a course they have attended.
Thanks

I did the one day one at Alltec recentley
Although we talked extensiveley about immersion cleaning and how to set it up we did not do it
But obviously cleaned rugs with a machin but that is the easy bit.
Solutions are doing a three day course cost cpst is about £350 monthly terms available but the course is not untill next year.
I am told Alltec have a two day rug course coming up soon again I presume that will be Ruth Travis who is President of IICRC
I believe NCCA is trying to organize another one as the last one was oversubcribed and members only

Thanks Ian
On the course you did are there alternative methods other than fully submersive for the more expensive rugs?

Yes
I think I am right in saying that until recentley Onley rugs was using a high power portable and a hand tool
Vac both sides prior to cleaning
In fact this was the method actually shown at Alltec plus a Rotavac because I wanted to play.
I found some very good Rug Cleaning films on You Tube.
Have to be a bit careful but John Bolton has put an extensive range of rugs and articles on Rug Making on Cleantalk the forum he Moderates. This is a comprehensive work and well worth a look.
Also look out for Antique Rug books on Ebay. Or you could buy one from Solutions UK next year for £350

Ian I think that's the price of the course! The book will be available at a "hugely discounted" price, apparently. It wasn't cheap to begin with, but it's kind of like the bible of rug cleaning, apparently.

Two ways to look at that book.
1 No book is worth £300+, it's simply a marketing device.
2 You can reference pretty much any type of rug and decide which method is most appropriate. So you have the confidence to do higher value rugs and methods and stop short of ruining it. How much is that worth to you?

Thanks Ian
I simply don't have facilities for a submersion cleaning tank, will take a look at the John Bolton threads cheers.
Chris - Did you mean by reading J Bolton threads in one afternoon or by personal tuition? if so does he do courses.
Thanks
Paul
