We clean carpets with:

Dry Cleaning
Low moisture cleaning
Truck mounted HWE

There is NO WAY anyone can remove as much soil as our 'wet' Hydramaster HWE if they are using a Dry or low moisture system, interestingly, whilst working today, our wet system delivered dry carpets within one hour.

If someone has an attitude that doesn't value the service they provide, then it wouldn't be surprising to hear them earning £500 per week, which is fine if that is what the are aiming to, or want to earn.

I think that 'shooting from the hip' has caused 'dry' to ruffle feathers, personally I think a 'its only manual labour' attitude is damaging for our industry.

I run a business, and have been doing so for 25 years, I could have chosen a different career in a suit, but 'chose' to clean carpets, the rewards are greater.

Spencer,
I think that is a very measured and coherent post ( I do not totally agree,However I respect your intelligence and stance )
Debate is hopefully on the cards ?

Dry,

What is you name? Do you have any trade qualifications?

I am pretty open on here, it would be nice to know who I am talking to.

Unbelievable.

Horse with blinkers on springs to mind. We are sure you do a great job dry, but dismissing this job as you do shows how inexperienced you seem to be. Just dry cleaning for sure isnt going to cause you many problems - which is why you may deem it as easy peasy. You have the luxury of being in the scenario where you dont have to think too often.

For the rest of us in the 'wet' world, it really is a different ball game. Please respect that if you can.

Kev

p.s. no professional is ever going to buy a £150.00 machine and if you know this industry will know that this staement is a bit daft. Many of us cleaners have spent many times more than £3,500 on machinary/equippment - it's really not an astronomical amount.

Kev/Spencer
i agree with you both.
He really pi##ed me off with his comments.
If he wants or can only earn £500 per week then let him,
if others can and willing to, go out and earn more thats our choice.

IMO he aint got the brains to go out and get more work, his attitude stinks

Regards

Daryl

Ps he aint got the guts even to tell us his name, just shows what type of
person he his

IT Sales, and pretty much any project manager role in business, Also my old boss earns well over £200,000 as an unskilled operations director.

You dont need to be skilled to earn £500 a week, you are talking nonsense Dry.

Daryl,
You accuse me of not having brains ,
Look at my profile,
I am imminently contactable, but only by people who can converse.
I imagine from your attitude that you square up to people in pubs who use words that are longer than 6l etters

Drive a cab and you will earn 500 quid a week, no problem.  I should know as Im in the transition between doing that and cleaning carpets full-time.  It's not exactly a fortune, is it???

That's why I'm changing my occupation.  I want to earn a hell of a lot more than £500 and I improve my quality of life at the same time.

Why are you so hung up on this figure of £500????

Neil,
Why did you not get his job?
And were people in IT regularly earning net£500 or is the average salary still £35000 which means you take @£450 for a 40hr week and travel on the train or bus in the rush hour.
Or if the IT industry is so great why are you not in it ?
