We have a  place to clean communal areas.
It is "minging".

filthy heavy duty lino.  I think mechanical scrubbers and wet/n/dry Vacs to clean up + serious chemicals

What do you think per hour inc. labour?  I reckon £60 - £75 per hour

How should I break it down?

Get onto Nairn flooring in Nairn in Scotland, they make it and have a very good technical dept.

I went on a cleaning and fitting course there donkeys years ago, brilliant course well worth it if you want a second string to your bow. Watching the professional installers  at work is breathtaking. When they cut it, the flooring just flops down against the wall, half inch out. ' It took me 20 years to learn to do that' he said. And I believed him too.

Previous poster is correct you can cause serious damage to lino, its nothing like vinyl.

I just wanted to thank you for the suggestions so far.  It's a good forum for help.  i hope I can give some back.

By the way I now think this floor is vinyl its very thick though.
I'm going to try some automotive valet cleaners tomorrow.

Vinyl is a petroluem based product - avoid using solvent based cleaners.

1. Do you know what the soiling is?

2. Has the floor been sealed?

you need to consider these before you start working on the floor otherwise you could end up buying it

Look on the back, if it has a cloth backing similar to a carpet then its probably lino, other wise, vinyl is obvious. Also lino is usually stiffer and thinner than most vinyls.

not a;ways possible to see the back, most are laid in sheets and sealed at the joints and edges. Depending on the type of soiling you could try Premiere Products MP10 which is a good degreaser, then if the environment is greasy continue to maintain with MP10, otherwise maintain with a neutral detergen such as Premiere Products Savona.
