A sign of things to come? :)

I would be pleasantly surprised. SL2 will always have it's place, especially on commercial, but for some properties, a modular, a la SL-X would be ideal.

Alex mentioned this 2 or 3 weeks ago on another thread, it's a work in progress but the fact that it's on the graph must mean he has a prototype built.  He did give a few details on the other thread but basically said he wasn't making any promises as to when it will be out.

Simon.

You have mail.

The chart has been the on the website for about 8 months now (Rupertthehair had spotted it and emailed me). It was put up as a bit of a what if?  Although I do now have a prototype version made up and is sitting in the workshop.

If we were going to bring to production a pole like this, it would complement the SL range as it would still be about twice the weight and I for one would rather stick to my SL and probably would not use the 44ft SL-X (if it comes out!). When doing commercial work hour after hour and extra 1.5kg would really make a difference. The majority of SL clients buy the 56ft version anyway so a 44ft pole would not really be sufficient for their needs. We also have an increasing number of clients who are using the SL at 70ft on a regular basis and the modular design lends itself to work like this.

There are a lot of WFP'ers who do not want a modular though  (they do not know what they are missing!) and would really go for a 44ft, 2.8kg, 5' 8", telescopic pole.

Please do not ring the office about this pole as they have no information about it and will not be able to answer any questions or be able to put anyone down on a reservation list.  :)

I do have a 55ft SL-2 myself Alex and I would hang on to it even if I ended up buying a 44ft SL-X (if they come out).  Never know when that extra length will be useful.  I do find telescopic more convenient to use though.  All it would mean for me is that the SL-2 would change from being used sometimes to being used rarely.  I don't tend to sell on my poles because I find they all seem to have their uses once in a while.  I've even got an old ali pole that is useful for certain types of work - especially if it's a bit windy.

I have a few houses where I need a 45ft pole to do just 3 windows so in that situation a telescopic would be faster even though it would weigh more.

We will all have to "weight" and see what Alex does...!!!!!

I use my SL2 for everything now,it`s so so light and the risk of any type of injury from the pole itself is nil.The main reason i think people don`t like using it on evrything is either type of work they have or they don`t have the sections setup right in the van for quick assembly.

NWH is my memory going? Were you the guy that reckoned the S2 was no good because it was too bendy so put it up for sale almost straight away? It could be my age of course.

That was well over a year ago now and it was because of the end cap that went over the end of the pole which i now don`t have,i now have a thread glued in the end of the top section, you seem to have a very negative memory why is that?.

I just seem to remember doing a review on the S2 when i got it and someone disagreeing with me when i said how stiff it was - they reckoned it was far more flexible than the Maver and unbelievably didn't rate it then got rid of it.
