Did I Over-Price??
« on: August 24, 2008, 04:53:39 pm »
Went to look at a place yesterday, 3 bedroom cottage - Large Rooms, Bedrooms huge with old enamel sinks in bad limescaled taps, really deep skirting boards, small kitchen all cupboards inside & out, bathroom, the whole of downstairs ceramic tiled so to be washed, oven to be cleaned, all paintwork, inside airing cuboard, removing stickers off one of the doors!!. Quoted £175 for cleaning.

Windows are really deep and all little square panes would have to clean individually really dirty too quoted £25 insides + £25 outsides.

He speaks like someone from the royal family and thought it was a lot for what had to be done??

Sounds like alot of work. I think your price was spot on. How much did he think it was going to cost, 50p??

I think he did expect 50p - It makes you die when they clearly don't clean regularly then the whole lot has to be done and its too much money.

I'm now quoting these kind of cleans from what I've seen on here so wanted to check I got it right

Clearly wants a lot wants to spend little.  Tell them if the want cheap then call someone else, if they want it cleaned then you will clean it......for the right price.

If you go to the supermarket will they drop the price of beans at the checkout because you do not want to pay that much?? no way. We all clean to make a living, we all have the same bills to pay - IF WE COULD MANAGE WITH JUST A HOBBY THEN WE WOULD ALL MAKE MODEL RAILWAYS

I would be looking for £15.00 per hour

Hi

No you didn't overprice.

If he is letting, then as is usual they want it done as cheap as chips.

As soon as someone quibbles about the price (outside of the usual negotiations) I then ask for the money before work is done as it can get difficult for them to pay up.

We would have probably been looking at between £350-£400 + vat, budget for two people full day.

There will always be people who expect to get cleaners in and only pay £5 per hour for it, they don't realise the other overheads that businesses need to pay out before actually making any profit.
