WFP useless for one offs.
« on: August 22, 2008, 08:17:52 pm »
Had a new customer today didn't know if it would lead to regular cleans or not because they had never seen wfp before. Brand new house, all the glass tinted and all the frames were black aluminium with a fair bit of builders dust on top of the frames. What a nightmare of a job! It took me so long that i'm sure the custies got fed up with waiting and went out (after paying me). I managed to get the glass good but no way could i get the frames perfect. The water was evaporating off too fast and not rinsing properly. I reckon i could have bladed the whole lot in a quarter of the time.  ::)

I went round twice then had a good inspection - absolutely crap runs everywhere and big streaks of dirt. After the third time i'd had enough. Trouble is i've picked up next door too but ran out of time and energy.  >:(

the trick is explaining that is takes a few cleans for them to come up perfect, if you explain that, people understand that the first clean is removing all the built up dirt and understand its not 100%

if its got "builders dust" on frames then its a buildclean ;D
charge accordingly ;D ;D :o
i will still get ladders out for this sort of stuff (after assessing risks etc  ::))
dry brush and damp micro top frames ,round trickle vents all that
get any problem bits like mortar off when your up there
then wfp

after 12 months i think its safe to say they will never be that good then, but i allways think if you pre-warn them on the first clean that it will take a while to come good, then they are happy,

i guess they are better than not being cleaned at all, so people accept it

i was chatting to a WC'er in weymouth this year and he has a terrible time with the salt, does a few guest houses on the front and swears they look just as bad when he leaves

I live in Cleethorpes and clean windows on the sea front. Never had problems with wfp and salt or sand. I tend to use a higher flow rate if the windows are caked up. Some may call it over kill ...I just want to get it right first time. No complaints as yet.

Salt gets carried in the wind from the sea breaze. Depends if the houses are situated in the wrong direction close to the sea. Use plenty of water. I prefer to use hot water in this situation so water dries quicker.
