But when a reel is bolted to the floor, at the back doors.... does the hose not get caught on the doors,?    as i presume you would pull up near the kerb with the house side on... (unless you could use the drive)...... so you would pull it out and instantly have the hose dragging at the bottom or underneath the door... or do you have to pull out a lot of length before you start.?

Leave the door open.....

Pull out in a straight line as far as you can and then go off round a corner or walk to the corner that your going to and reel a load out that will allow you to get to the furthest part of the house etc.You will in time learn your round and you`ll find that having the reel bolted to the floor will be better than just having a stand alone reel,the ideal setup is 2 reels 1 bolted to the floor and 1 stand alone at the side door.

Sounds like a pain to me, unless the hose is being used in a straight line from the van back, i am always moving my reel around outside the van!!

lol ever tried pulling hose out with doors shut.. :.... im on about the angle...pulling off side of the reel instantly... then rubbing on van..thats before job even started..

i was just curious as to how it could be easier than putting the reel outside the van.

if i did bolt it i sure as hell would have to fix leaks first... and i have found that near impossible so far.

Thought of both those options but i don't have a tow bar. I could bumper mount it but i want to fondle it first to be sure i could use it with microbore.

You can get a square metal version of that somewhere..... You then just cut a hole in the van door so it can be locked while your working..... Not sure where I saw it though.

When I ordered my van I specified a side door specifically to overcome the problems mentioned in this thread.

mines bolted to the floor. put 2 holes in back door. fitted plugs that match the van wrap.this way doors can be shut and still pull out hose. tennis balls end of hose so when reeling in it dont come thru van door and hit you in the head!
