slow sub pump?
«
on:

my pump is being a pain, taking forever to fill the tank
its less than 4wks old, inch and quarter pipe about 25 mtrs
no real pattern to problem
sometimes it is fine and fills quickly
tonight it took 40 mins to pump 500ltrs
some of that was me messing about trying to get it working better
still a pain tho
any thoughts

Lj when your tank is full do you switch off pump first then turn off the "tap" to stop syphoning. or do you turn tap off first then walk back and turn pump off ?

i switch pump off then lift it out the tank
then i "walk" the water down the pipe and empty it into tank
dont really use the tap

I still dont understand why you keep taking your pump out of the water ... surely your subjecting it to more contaminants every time you lift it out and drop it in

because 25 mtrs of transfer hose full of water weighs so much
anyway how does leaving it in the tank solve the poblem

Now theirs a story ....
After using it for about six months for filling up 25 litre barrels
I got a new one wiyh a less powerfull motor and sold LJ your old one for a tenner when he converted to a van mount from trolley.
After he had filled his 1000 litre ibc up with 000 water he put the said pump in.... switched it on and a cload of rusty water came out the bottom of the pump.........WHOOPS !

and i sold it on for twentyquid
when the bloke came round to buy it i put it in a buket of water to show it working
it emptied it in about 3 seconds maybe less
fired a spout of water 6ft straight up
if it had not rusted up so bad i would have kept it :
could not risk it wiith pure water

anyway
any other ideas
if it can pump 7500 lph thats 125 ltrs a minute
so 5 mins or so fills tank
its never been that fast
shorter hose maybe
airlocks
tank in van is higher than static but the pump is suppsed to have a 5m head so why is it so crap
