Block Paving - Resanding & Drainage?
« on: August 18, 2008, 04:27:07 pm »
Hi all

Been doing patio/driveway surface cleaning as a supplement to carpets & upholstery for a while now, don't do a great deal but got a decent size job on at the end of this week.
120 sqm Block paving drive
45 sqm Patio paving slabs
30 sqm Decking

Done block paving before but never re-sanding.
This job requires re-sanding and just wanted some advice.
Approx. how much would I require to cover the block paving area?
Is it just a case of soft brushing it into gaps and sweeping excess?

Also drainage seems to be an issue, strange as it looks an expensive newish house.
Small drain down the side of the house, nothing to the rear or other side.
Front drive slopes down to the road but again could not see any drainage on the road.
Was thinking of using my backup carpet cleaning machine to extract the worst of it, what do you think?
Or any better advice?

Thanks
Paul

If the drive slopes towards the road then the water will go, I use a broom head with a bucket on placted in the flow to catch the silt which then goes into the bucket with holes in.
Resanding - 2-3 bags of kiln dried sand depending on gap size and cuts, drive must be dry brushed in with a 36" short bass broom.
Decking - others on here are experts more than me but lower the revs on the machine to drop the pressure and use long strokes lifting and lowering the gun at each end to reduce marks, 15 degree nozzle, then sand with a black doodle bug and then oil - I use Libron
