How much to pay for a website?
« on: August 18, 2008, 07:32:53 am »
Hi,  I'm looking to get a new website designed and was wondering how much it will cost.

I'm looking for a relatively basic one with a main page and about four other pages.

I've been quoted about about £250 - £350. Reasonable?

Thanks chris

I could do one similar to

mjcontracts.co.uk

or incredibly-clean.co.uk

for £75 all inclusive. Design, hosting, emails basically everthing.

Speak to this guy (Rabby) he's a webdesigner and carpet cleaner www.capitalcapetcare.co.uk or www.transwebdesign.co.uk his prices include SEO and he's sh*t hot at SEO!

this site does not allow links so just google the above address.

If you give me your email I will ask him if he can email you some information.

Cheers Craig  ;) You`ll get me all big headed now. But must admit my track record aint bad.
you missed out the "e" in www.transwebdesign.co.uk ,which I cant seem to get finished.

Funny you should mention this as I seriously thinking of taking time out from C/C due to Sciatica
which wont clear up. After three months of daily pain, it starts to get to you.
So looks like its back to the websites for a while and probably get fat.

Hi Chris its a piece of string number, depends on how much work the guy is doing.
For the work I put in, £350 would be very reasonable.
PS its best to fill in your profile. I take it from your name your in Scotland?

Cheers
Rab.

Michael what happened to the other one? I liked that much better, it had 3 or 4 big boxes on the home page with a deep red or brown back ground.

£75 is a steal, but then SEO isn't cheap.

Hows the prowler doing ? Do you have it fitted as a truck mount and is it any help with the back pain for easy set up?

P.S have you seen my new web site yet?

Its the SEO that takes up the time and is a pain in the ass job.
Hows the Linkmachine going Spencer, I`m still not sure about it.

Hi Bob The Prowlers a great bit of kit but may have to let it go
depending on how the websites go.
Site looks good, a bit busy for my liking, will have a good look tomorrow.
Cheers,
Rab.

Shaun

I liked the red one myself. Got speaking to a marketing consultant the other day and they said blue was meant to be more of a trusting colour so I changed it. Thinking about changing it back.

The design is the easy bit as said. The SEO is the time consumung part and in my opion should be DIY. I dont think many small business can pay for proper SEO and the ones I know that have, have been ripped off.

At the end of the day it all comes done to three main things. Age of site, correct design and number of quality links.

My advice to anyone who does not have a site is get one. Its like a pension the earlier you start the better.

Hi,

Just want to add a little more to prodry's  post.

It a little more than the 3 basic items that you have mentioned.

how about content your targeted market (the keywords in the content).

I guess that when you mentioned design you implied the structure of the code whilst using CSS and not the visuals of the site!! ...just need to make that a little clear for those not to familiar with web development.

But you are perfectly correct in saying the age and the incoming links to yuor site are an important part of getting your site up there
