Wow. I think you've you've answered your own question mate. Ya don't need it. It's pants. Waste of time AND money. But if ya serious about ya business,accounts and the inland rev, i'd say it's worth every single penny of the £50 the lads ask for it. Not to mention the hours and hours it will save you. But that's only my humble opinion. Others may vary

How about instant access to debt records, income forecast, expenses, the list goes on! I would have spent hours sifting through paperwork and entering details onto paper if it wasn't for George, what have you got to lose by trying it

i aint being awkward i just dont know how  it works
surely you have to enter all this data into it

do you connect it to computer and up date or what
some of you will laugh at this i am sure
so far i am doing fine with paper

You can use a pocket pc that can run the George program so you can instantly store when you have completed a job and whether they have paid or not, then you can upload the info onto your pc when you get home, I did have one once I broke it and haven't bothered with another I just print a work list and use that so back to pen and paper on that part, when you get home and on the pc  its simple to mark of jobs that have been done and whether they have been paid or not. George will automatically update when the job is next to be done. Yes you do have to enter all the job details into it for it to work.

so a sensible system, which takes away a heck of a lot of bookwork has to be a good thing, for you, the accountant..(if you have one)..and the taxman.... yeeeeaah the tax maaa-aaan.

how does it cope with wet days (which means fascia and gutters for me ) and holidays(lots of long wknds) etc. Do you have to do all the round in a set order
my round is very flexible i have some commercial work that has a more strict 5 week limit
the rest gets done on my terms
does george allow for this
as for it being "only" 50 quid....thats nearly 25litres of resin and i KNOW that works so its money well spent

yes it copes with all that... all of it... there is nothing it cant do regarding sorting out your  business....

you can put the conservatory roofs in... it does the lot...

why dont you download the free trial and see.... it gives you a set amount of customers to deal with, you can play around, se if it works for you. eh

ting is tho gazz i organise my round in my head and write it up afterwards,i can almost recite the whole thing in approximate order(this varies to some extent,i will work in crap weather i just go and do houses who aint bothered or ones that will be empty,thats how i work it) i also know,without having to check up, how much i have outstanding and the price of each job Does george allow for this kind of flexible approach or does it restrict your options

If you do perhaps you could sit down with them and see how they use it?

why dont you just download it and use it? theres a tial anyway for 60 uses then after that if you like it buy it.

The best way to understand it is to try it considering its a trial to start off with nothing to lose.

get up in the morning,,, print a sheet for the day....tick the jobs you have done... paid.. not paid.... (month after its highlighted in red that they owe you)....

also type in the petrol you used... things you have bought for your business

I agree that you don't NEED it (or any other electronic data system).  But I find it far easier to keep track of things since I started using a database/spreadsheet system  a few years ago.  That's what George is really.  A database/spreadsheet with a user friendly front end.  A very good one as well.

Brilliant software for me and no you won't be earning more money with it  Very handy at the end of the tax year too. Can see what your earnings will be for the rest of the year and you can invoice customers through it. The only downside would be for the tax dodgers who won't want to enter every job into the system. I haven't found a quick way for it to allow for holidays yet as this would seem to be a case of moving each job one at a time. I tend to run a book too to carry in the van then adjust george to suit when i get back.

in lay mans terms , you download program on to pc via website, enter cust details, phone numbers , price frequency , due date [you only have to put this in when setting up job on pc.] the set frquency will take care of future cleans. when you do the job enter details on pc by ticking done box, job will then be
reset to be done when ever you have set frequency, ie ftnly, mthly , bi mthly ect. if they pay tick paid , if not do not tick box , if you do a job late, ie hols , weather ect. just press 'today button, by done box. you can print job sheets , these will show who owes , date last cleaned ect. when collecting print debt list, this will show who owes money.if you use a palm[pocket computer ] this needs to be running palm os.this will  make the whole process quicker,

 as you do not have to manually transfer job sheet at end of day on to pc, you just link up pocket pc press 1 button , and in secs it updates all records , and loads
next day/days work.the best way is to try it it is free to use for about 60 days i think. hope this helps
