« on: August 13, 2008, 02:52:27 pm »
In the  process of doing a quote for a nice little office . approx 1200 sq f of carpet and 42 chairs . I don't do much commercial work hence that.s why I need a bit of help with pricing , What is a fair price for these chairs

Thanks   John

Hi

I recon you could do 10 chairs per hour, so just over 4 hours at whatever your happy with.

I would pre-spray 5 at a time scrub & extract.

PS I would be bored rigid my number 14!

Now I can see what we spoke of on the phone John.

Have you got any microfibre cloths or better still - microfibre mitts.
Would help on the edge bits, speed up the job.
Plnty of towelling to wipe overspray off the wood frame.

Assuming is a wool covering as a lot of these are and its a light coloured fabric and if its dirty or has got food based stains it could take longer than expected.

Clean the worst one as a demo to gauge the above and time yourself.  Dont rush as by number 10 you'll be a lot slower.

Also you need to guarantee dry by the next working day so take fans.

Price wise around £5 per chair depending on the above.

i'd quote a day rate. whatever that is for you. wouldn't take any longer and if yo do it in 4 hours your quids in, also gives you time to do an amazing job if you get some stubborn bits.

I would give them a good vac first it’s not often the cleaners does it, would only agitate if needed.  about 4hrs less if you had a helper. A fiver

John,
Chairs and carpet, one days work easy, I'd go in at £500 the lot.

I would agree with Carleton.....allow 4 hours or as Collin said approx £200 or imo £50 to £60 per hour.
And if you do them in 2.5 hours, you have made a bonus! ;D

yes £500 a good price for you and the customer, then you can get a idea of what jobs like this takes, if your there all day you still get 500 quid and most importantly experience

I'd defo take somebody with me on this, I use my nephew, Min wage and a mc D thrown in for lunch ;D.

I don't know how much these chairs cost but I did 10 similar ones for £100 and the custy snapped my hand off, wish I gone higher. Took me about 2 hours including set up, chat, packing away.

Some will be more soiled than others so it's worth turbo drying them so you can assess them when dry.

Andy IMO £100 isn't a big bill but if you were to get 42 do you think he would have gone for £420? funny thing customers they seem to get a price in their heads.

£500 is a good price for all as Paul says, gives you a yard stick for future work.

did 40 of these last weekend. the chairs take 3 minutes each no big deal. cleaning boot polish off of the wooden legs now that is time consuming. the customer wont necessarily know that u have done the legs however try it for uourself. the chair looks 100 times better over all. custy was well happy.

I'd agree with 3 minutes per chair, but a further 30 seconds for towelling the edges and frames.

How long are you going to allow john?

Am sure you will be able to do the v dirty ones first and the less dirty ones at the end and get your turbo on the.

I have got a spare dryer if you need it john :)
