HOW HEAVY CAN RAIN BE TO WORK WITH WFP
« on: August 12, 2008, 01:44:57 pm »
im a newbie and iv been told you can work in the rain using wfp, how heavy can the rain be for the window to still be cleaned efficiently? iv cum up with a system to go against!! if for example

1) your window wipers had to be the first setting would that be ok to work in?

2) your window wipers had to be on the second setting would that be ok to work in?

or is it just preference that you dont work in the rain??

I don't work in the rain, but if the customer asked I might do.

You can't decide, it's up to the customer.

Use your own discretion as to when you work in the rain and don't let the customer decide for you or you'll never work!
People will always complain about you working in the rain but if you explain why you do, most will accept it. It rains far too much in this country not to!

I work in all but the heaviest rain! My customers know that they take the rough with the smooth. I explain to them from the beginning that i will call in all weathers, bar prolonged heavy rain. Otherwise i would be unable to keep up with my rota.

I can't decide? Terms and conditions is what they are called. Sure when it's chucking it I'm not happy myself, but normal rain is fine. If you let your customers decide how you work etc, then your not going to be happy.

IMO it is preference that people do not work in the rain because they do not like getting wet, if you started trad before wfp I think it is ten times harder to do, I still get days like this myself and I work in the rain.
Customers accept window cleaning in the rain if explained in the correct way.
if the way the weather has been this year, I can see many of the poeple saying they do not work in the rain either going out of business or changing there thought process on this.

in reality wfp will work in all rain , it is when it is wet and windy you get problems, i work in rain but not torrential rain , or strong winds and rain, most my custys accept it , in the past i have sat in my van waiting for it to clear , i have had custys knock on window and say 'are you doing mine today' , i say yes they say ' oh i am going out heres your money' :o so now i just carry on. it is true not all custys like it, but  when the weather goes through a prolonged wet spell like we see all to frequently , you simply cannot afford to down tools, apart from the money , it plays havoc with your rounds.

Traditional works as well in the rain, key is to not use fairy, that layer of soap breaks up and leaves spots. Not so with Squeegee off or GG3/4. I used to dread it though, all the microfibres wet, really annoying. Now with wfp I'm laughing my way through, don't even care.

Customers need to be trained just like when switching to wfp. I've done a lot of houses in torrential weather, and then sun came out, and they dried beautifully.
