New Version of Window Cleaner Pro inc. PDA version
« on: August 08, 2008, 11:27:20 am »
Hi All,

This is my first post for quite a while as I have been very busy over the last year or so with 2 new additions to my family.

However, after many of you have contacted me and gave me much direction about what you wanted from the next version I have finally completed it. The new version has many updates including most of the features that have been requested and most importantly integration with a Window Mobile PDA. The new version saves you even more time as your work is kept up to date in real time so you dont even have to update your work when you get in - simply press a button and the PDA syncronises itself with the main program.

The software is capable of handling multiple PDA's and even works over WiFi.

We are just waiting for the website to be completed then we will  be going 'live'. I expect this to be in the next week or so.

Thanks for everyone who has been testing for me and for your support over the last year.

Ian

Will there be a version compatible with symbian os?

I decided for the first launch not to support any other PDA systems apart from Windows Mobile, however I have managed to get a smaller working copy on symbian and Java based OS's. I do plan to add these systems after I have gone live with the WM version.

Thanks...i really appreciate it.

It has taken almost 10 months and just over half a million lines of codes but I am very pleased with the results. The feedback from the beta testers has been overwhelmingly positive and a few of them even completed their weeks by thursday so had time to go out canvasing (or just to take time out to spend time at home with some of the nice (but intermitant) weather).

Hi Ian,

I currently use George but one thing that was promised on it that hasn't materialised - is the ability to have work scheduled for one customer at different prices

i.e. I have many customers where we clean the conservatory every 2nd clean

Would this be possible on WCP?

Regards

Al

Hi Al,

With WCP you would have 1 customer with 2 tasks. Task 1 would be on an 8 week cycle for say £10 for just the windows and task 2 would be on an 8 week cycle for say £20 for windows and conservatory. WCP would then automatically schedule these correctly. Since I have never used George I don't know if this approach would also work?

Ian,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

As far as I'm aware the only way to do this on George is to enter the customer twice, but the problem with this is if you get behind it really starts to throw things out.

Just so I understand - you can have more than 1 priced job under 1 customer entry?

If so will you be offering any free trial period - just so I can see if the program fits?

Hi Al,

Yes that is correct. That way you can raise invoices and receipts for any job under a customer as well as manage the customers debt across all their jobs. The new version of WCP will come with a 45 day free trial so you can use it and see if it fits your business.

HI Ian,

How soon will the free trial be available?

I have an older PDA (purchased in 2002 running windows) will it be OK to run on that?

It sounds very good. I cant wait to give it a spin.

I have tested on Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 so as long as your device can run any of these it should be ok. Do you know the exact model?
(Also it may work on any microsoft enabled as long as that device can run .NET compact framework but I have not tested so cannot say for sure)

I have an older IPAQ RX1950 (ebay £52) series which runs Windows Mobile 5.0 and a brand new IPAQ 114 Classic (about £150) that runs Windows Mobile 6.0

Hope that helps

Hi Ian,

Does this new software work well with commercial customers and contracts as the problems that i have found with other software is that they are unable to cope with customers that have several jobs which intale several frequencys.

eg: a commercial customer has four different sites with different frquency of cleans but one invoice is raised for that customer covering all cleans which could total 24 cleans.

does this make sence

rgds,

Hi,

I beleive it does cope well with this. As mentioned above a single customer can have many jobs. Then when you raise an invoice you can see all the jobs for that customer and include them on the invoice. When we launch there will be a 45 day free trial so you can use it and see if it meets your needs.

I'm a george user- one thing george doesn't do is let you enter which customers have paid in cash. I've had tax investigations and they are quite keen on this sort of thing. Can you flag payments as being in cash (or otherwise)in your programme?
