Slipped with knife yesterday and gashed my hand about 1" long quite deep bled four an hour lost feeling in my hand.Well it was dressed and painkillers taken thought nothing more about it till i woke up about 3am hand swollen like a pudding and pain .Went to casualty a 5.15 this morning they redressed it,gave me tetnus and told me to keep it dry.Went to first job this morning but could not carry on pain was so bad i did not realise how important two hands were in this game.Unloading the van was agony more so when i packed away.I have now cancelled the jobs i had booked for the rest of the week till the swelling goes down.Moral of the story look after those hands they are your lively hood

Sorry to hear of your problem.

Had the same when I dislocated my Thumb playing Cricket last Summer, still not right even now.

Just couldnt work after it was agony, I had to call Mark Betts in to help for 2 days.

Thats how desperate I was!!

Stop being a baby : I slipped with a chainsaw last week while cleaning a suite, cut my leg right off!! fixed it back on with some gaffer tape and finished the suite,

Last year I was just finishing off a job for an elderly couple (go every year) I was leaning on the vans door pillar with left hand, and then slammed shut the side sliding door forgetting to take out the left hand. I shut closed all the way with my thumb in it, when I opened the door, my thumb was DEEPLY gashed right on the knuckle very deep, it took months to heal up and now has a big ganglion on the scar.

Wont do that again in a hurry !

Like you said, your hands are your most valuable tool.

did'nt you know that now proffessional carpet cleaners are taking suites outside to clean them in the fresh air, but sometimes they don't fit through the door

Couple of months ago Murray walked into a low beam while at a job. Large Y shaped gash on top of his head (in the middle of his solar cell). Knocked him out for a few seconds and loads of blood.

Paramedics called and first aid administered. It happened in Buckinghamshire where they had an A&E doctor on the ambulance crew. Lady of the house made plenty of sweet tea and biscuits (including loads for the ambulance crew too) then he finished the job.

What you blokes will do for tea & biscuits

I've been walking around with a swollen knee for the last fortnight since I fell off a curb and landed on my knee, it's bloody agony when kneeling to clean suites or do stairs.

Steve, if necessary give me a call and I'll try and pop down over the water to help out if required, fully booked for this week but have got some spaces next week

Mike you made me laugh so much my head fell off and you were right gaffer tape will hold anything on

If you are not taking the suite to bits and cleaning inside the frame and then reasembling you are not doing The Most Through Clean Ever

Yes, these injuries are an absolute pain We have to be careful that we don't get into a "Mine was worse than yours" situation.  But as we seem to be comparing scars, for the record, I broke a finger nail last week

As we must all come into contact with some pretty mucky stuff whilst cleaning. Has anyone looked into the health risks in relation to what we do. What about inocculation for hepatitus and that sort of thing.

I was cleaning a suite the other day (outside of course), when blow-me-down, a 4-metre croc came up behind me and bit off my left foot   Man oh man, was I cranky

He was gunna have another go but lucky for me, a  spider fell on him, wrapped it's web around him and swallowed him whole!
