One for the braggers!!!
« on: August 01, 2008, 12:53:23 pm »
I decided while at home for lunch to take a quick look at: www.windowcleaningroundforsale.co.uk - Just looking to see what they had (although I am not looking to buy a round). Anyway the guy in Bornemouth made me chuckle - he reckons that his round brings £7,300 P.M How long to you think this guy claims it would take 1 person to do the round? 4-5 Days!!! So even if you took 5 days thats £1460 per day!!!! Yeah right. That puts even the most outragous claims on here (think j demarco!) to shame!

£1460 per day?

£7300 * 12 = 87600

87600 / 48 = 1825   (allowing 4 weeks hols)

1825 / 5 =  £365 a day

Shell out 35k, and then get 1/2 the round saying "who are you? you're not my window cleaner!  get lost!"

I know that would be right based on a 5 day WEEK!!!
I did wonder myself if he meant a 5 day week but if you look at the rest of the ads they  state how many days per week. He didn't.
Anyway the round 5 down seems steep £55,000 for a 3500 pm round ok you get a van and a bit of kit but that still seems very expensive

exactly, i have never had anything but trouble buying rounds, if that round was even half as good as he says why sell??? Surely putting a man in a van would pay to keep it going. id have to see it to believe!!

ive not necessarily lost customers but they werent always great customers when you started, bad payers, etc, and tried to increase prices and alot are funny, the guy hadnt put prices up for years!! so they were not used to it! whereas my customers just around the corner ask me when im putting them up because fuel is going up etc, hopefully in time as they learn to trust me things will be better but when i canvass new work you dont have those problems, you can choose who you want and put in a good price from the start, so from now on im only canvassing!!

Did a bit of "googling" and have found a cleaning company near to me for sale. Contract cleaning and window cleaning
T/O £200,000  P £100,000  Asking Price £100,000
So it would be 12 months before you got your money back.
Half their work is in build cleans and having just got my fingers burnt there with the drop off I am sure that there is no way that the profits will be as high this year (I  wonder how much I could knock them down on that basis). So 12 months before you see your money back - those window cleaning rounds don't seem to be far off that but forgetting the build clean issue for the moment you do get the following assets:
All contracts and business contacts.
All machinery and tools used by the company.
Company vehicles : 2 medium size vans “kangoo”
1 large size “Vauxhall vivaro”
1 small size “clio van”
1 cherry picker “trailer”
1 family car “owners vehicle” “laguna”
All office furniture
All cleaning supplies
Web site.
Two to tree weeks free support by the owner

There is also the office lease if the buyer wishes to take on, it comes around £4000.00 a year, 600sqf of office space and 400sqf of storage. The remaining lease is for two years.

With that included the rounds seem expensive. Interesting eh!

Well I emailed the cleaning company that was local to me and this was the reply:

Yes I'm still selling the business, I've got a few offers but i'm holding back a bit.
The price is still £100.000 and it does not matter if i gain new business. the  contracts  I've got are usually for 12months, but usually ther's no time limit becouse if the customers wants he will cancel anyway no matter what company works for them.
I've never lost a contract due to bad service.
if you need more info please let me know, or you can even pop in for a chat.
I will sent out more info next week.

So the contracts expire at best before you make a profit!!!
What a joke!
Don't think I'd buy that!
Any takers?
