Blast it !
« on: July 24, 2008, 05:59:58 pm »
Ordered 2 sets of brushes for my vac motors and today i thought i would have a look at an old motor i had, this motor was spitting sparks and smoking when i removed it  :-\. One of the brushes is the normal length but the second one is down to the metal holder nearly. Broke one of the wires at the connector, then snapped it when i tried to recrimp it,so i put it back in the shed before i lost my temper  ;D , is there much chance of this motor being any good if i do fix it,or is it possibly too far gone ! still spins up freely,Will have to be a bit more carefull when i do the ones in the machine

Should  be ok, just solder the connectors back on and replace the brushes. Also gently knock out or vac out all the carbon debris as this can still cause it to smell.
