NEW SUPER-LITE BRUSH VS TUCKER
« on: July 23, 2008, 10:34:17 pm »
I received two of the new Super-lite brushes today after work. First impressions, its light......thats it really, I will have to roadtest it tomorrow against the Tucker which has become THE best piece of equipment bought for my business yet. Its had a huge impact on my work so the SL brush will sruggle to compete but we will see!!!

The ongoing review will feature pictures of both brushes! Luke

Ive kind of come to a verdict on this matter and Ive got to say that the Tucker still reigns in my opinion. Saying that the Super-lite brush is the second best brush Ive ever used!!!!

So what makes the Tucker better. Well the Tucker is a much much more versatile brush than the SL, the Tucker does away with much of the constant adjusting of the angle adapter while the bristles on the SL cant flex as much to deal with different angles. This is probably due to the fact that  the bristles dont naturally sit in the stock tapered out as much as the Tucker.

The Tucker also has more scrubbing power with much more internal shorter trim bristles and the SL doesnt naturally splay to its full potential....which means the user has to kind of manipulate the splay of the brush, this is time consuming and frustrating. The Tucker kind of sinks onto the glass with its huge reach and eats the dirt off!!!!

Now here is where is all turns good for the SL brush in my opnion. For work 30ft+ the Super-lite brush is THE only brush for the job in my opinion, the Tucker is just slightly too heavy.

The SL brush is also far superior than the Ionic, Vikan, Addis, Bentley in my opnion. Dont get me wrong the SL brush is still a very good brush but the Tucker is outstanding, and as I said before has changed my working practice quite alot, its a real time saver and is going to be very hard to beat by anybody.

So in conclusion, well done Alex and Gardiners, youve given us a light brush for high work that cleans better than anything else.......apart from a Tucker.!!!!

Well I for one have found that to be most interesting. It's good to have an in depth un-biased comparison.

My task now is to improve the next batch.

Is there a chance that if you wanted to you could clean just the glass and not the frames with both brushes?  I know on the past some have said you have to clean the frames with a tucker.

Is one better for rinsing than the other?

Simon.

Thats exactly what I thought I would hear you say Alex, good on you! I think I know where it could be improved.....but that might compromise the weight factor.

I also realise that the priority with this brush was to keep the weight down, Luke

both brushes can just clean the glass just fine, I think with a heavy pole people struggles with the Tucker, but we use the SL-X and it weighs nothing!

Both rinse as well as each other, the jets on the SL are further apart though, Luke

I intend fitting a 9 inch Tucker (lighter than a 12inch but still has 2 jets), dual trim Tucker brush on my SL-2 after I'ver tried Gardiners new super, duper brush and I too will give my honest comparison when it arrives :)

I would like to buy a 9 inch one too Wayne but having spent over £110 on brushes recently I think I will give it a miss for a while!!! Luke

Thats what sets you (and certain other suppliers) apart from the rest - you are actually interested in your customers feedback (unlike certain others!). I will be doing business with you soon (sl2, slx + brush). I was already 90% decided from all the positive comments about your products but reading that has just made my mind up.

Exactly!!! nobody else is interested, they think their products have already reached perfection, where as people like Alex want to improve on the best. Luke

Top brush Alex, all you have to do to make this brush even better is to lighten it further although it is very light and to give it more bristles in the bottom row ie the shorter ones.I would pack it full of shorter bristles below the longer ones so when pressed on the glass it splays well but has better scrubbing power with the shorter ones. This is not a negative towards the brush at all,a job well done and i know as time goes on it will get better.I`ll be ordering more soon.
