As this is a cleaning industry rather than construction industry forum, can't imagine why anyone would need or want one.

because to get on the sites I have been asked to go on I need one ,

they are not just for constuction , they are to show you are aware of the h/s/e issues , wether it be cleaning or constuction.
so with out one , I am potentlialy losing alot of work that is going to come my way,

better to have , than not to have

This is a Construction Industry scheme which is being rolled out to cut the horrific accident rate on building sites. It is not the CIS, sub contractors tax scheme.
Anyone carrying out builders cleans or even cleaning showhomes carpets will need to have the Builders Cleaner White card. This card relates to health and safety and operational safety.

it is infact for two contacts i do work for
one is a housing trust, and the other is for working on some milatry bases.

I know my mate had to have one when we did a big builders clean for opperation slam ! huge base past bury,was also to do with getting paid too.Not sure about the test,i know we all had to have a briefing before they would let us start work

Once upon a time, NOT THAT LONG AGO, you obtained work, purchased suitable products, turned up and got on with it.

Now YOU CAN'T ACCESS A BUILDING SITE without hard hats ( made of flimsy plastic ) an I D badge, proof of insurance and proof of professional competence ( or bit's of paper which DON'T prove your competence, they just prove you ATTENDED a course or two.)

I posted some time ago, that I expected intervention by local authority or national government, with mandatory training  and monitoring. Looks like it's getting closer.

Its not a difficyult test Geoff but you do need to get the book so you can read up on the rat diseases (weils I think) and all that or you will fail thats what happened to so I had to take it again (most embarrassing)

I’ve got the royal society for the promotion of health certificate in health and safety at work, don’t normally drop names but the patron the Queen think I will laminate it and keep in van just in case

I have a Royal institue of health and hygine certificate from 1991 ,part of my chef training  Prob obsolete now though

There's a post in the window cleaning section about this which suggests it's a common sense test, with a 70 % pass requirement. The posters reckon it's very easy and straightforward.

Litigation, or the fear of it, is creating a lot of paper tigers, particularly in local authorities. What pee's me off, is the fact that a company can be brilliant at having policies, procedures, etc, beautifully presented, but deliver a crap service.

still got h and s certificate.........valid for 2 yrs i think then need a refresher course

also have first aid cert valid for 3 yrs

also part of chef training

will take a look, yes everbody has been telling me it fairly easy   but should read the corresponding book.........  hoping to get hold of one tommorow.
