analine leather training
« on: July 23, 2008, 12:54:33 pm »
(the details in this topic are to be To be comfirmed tomorrow with LTT but I wanted to give as much notice as possible to anyone interested)

next Friday (1st of August) I'm  taking a 3seater & 2 seater aniline leather suite to LTT to be renovated By Andy

(I'll post pictures this evening).

it has extensive sun damage and needs a lot of work. the customer is paying part of the cost and I'm paying the rest, I see this as an ideal way to learn how to 'clean' & 'restore' aniline leather.

as I'm going to be out of pocket with this venture I'm offering to allow one other person to attend the day and learn how to do it

at a cost of £150

this will be an ideal opportunity to get hands on training on a real suite ( not just a cushion or bit of leather) by the end of the Day Judy has promised me I'll be able to handle any future Aniline suites I come across

£150 might sound a lot but this customer is happy to pay £400 towards the cost, so I can see me doing other jobs like this and £400 is the price I will be charging, so for £150 you will learn the skills needed to also be earning £400
a job

if anyones interested let me know.

Mike

I was in Harrogate last week and was very pleasantly surprised at some of the results we achieved, with a little help from Andy.

A particular finish involving aniline really grabbed my attention. Sounds like a great opportunity for anyone serious about leather cleaning / restoration.

Not being pedantic or anything but................
You say the customer is paying part of the cost, then at the end it says he is happy to pay £400, and that is what you will be charging.

Is the customer paying part of the cost, therefore you will be out of pocket!!!
Or £400 + £150 ( for the tuition from LTT ) = Quids in all round  ???

cost comes from;

ltt fee
van hire ( got a T/M bolted into mine)
diesel
this comes to more than £550 without figuring in to it, my time & effort to pick the suite up the day before and dropping it off on Saturday.

I got the figure of £150 out of the blue because like I say I'm trying to get my cost down.

this is a unique oppertunity because every leather course I've done you get to practice on a cushion if you're lucky, this is a full suite.
