Had my first rippler today, just looked baggy as hell after cleaning.

It wasn't overwet and I tried to dry it out even more with the fan but still looked pretty bad.
Custy wasn't in so I had to leave a note explaining that it will settle when dry and to give me a call when they return.

99 times out of 100 .......... if it was stretched and baggy before you started then you may have exaggerated it but rare

Never known one not to go back to normal, even the really bad looking ones 

Think it can be more heat that makes it ripple than water, imho

  If it doesn't go back what should I suggest to the customer.

Would a carpet fitter be able to stretch it back when dry??

If you look carefully you should see that the expanded bits, correspond to
where you overlapped your strokes, this overlap can become overwet quite
easily. They virtually always go back, they just take time, sometimes up to
36 Hours.
Don't worry about it, reassure the customer that it is expansion in the carpet backing,
and that it will go back to normal within 12 - 48 hours. If the worst comes to the worst,
get it stretched out, but i'd put money on it not being necessary.

This has happened so many times I couldn't count, but I find that when using the RDM it seldom happens.
Some of them will ripple or buckle as I call it just at the sight of a pre-sprayer !, and look like the north sea on a rough crossing but yes 99% of the time they do dry down. Try letting of the flow before the end of wand stroke.

I haven't had 1 for years and then the other day i got one, as stated 24 hours-36 hours irrelivant if it feels dry it will go back to normal.

It will totally go back!! Its happened to me about 5 times, the last time was 3 weeks ago, I told them it would be flat by teatime the next day and lo and behold come 5oclock she rang me telling me it went flat exactly when i said it would! I was told(or read) its because of latex in the backing of the carpet swelling up when wet and taking longer to dry than all the other materials in the carpet hence changing the dimensions of the carpet. Not sure if that is correct??

That sounds kind of logical.  I've also heard it said that action bac carpets are prone to this too, but don't know why exactly.

This brings back memories of my first "rippler", boy did I fill my pants!

I have heard so many things from bad fitting to the backing expanding,cheap through lounge carpets etc..I came accross my first 1 about 13 years ago and was the same lol.....

Cleaned a BUPA hospital corridor one Sunday evening.

YOU GUESSED IT ..........RIPPLER! ........YOU COULD SURF ON IT  

Took 24 hrs to recover with patients, visitors and staff walking all over it on  Monday.

Shat myself miracle i did not get a claim.

Just a shame the custy had to come home to it.... Plus she was a pain in the arse over the price and haggled me down to a well tight price

I'm going to see her tomorrow mid day to explain fully so I'll use what you guys have told us

It's okay saying it but it does pay to stick to your guns when it comes down to pricing, she's now eating into your profit with a return call.
