Hi all just a newbie , just starting out and would like to know what i should be expecting to pay for an accountant, i will be sole-trader no employees, subbing my self out to other companies for a few days a week then the remaining days i will be getting my own customer base.
so my book-keeping should be preey basic. have been told by one accountant, that i will be looking at £250-450.,, any info please..

Hi,
I had my first years accounts done by an accountant. Business started at the end of May - Mar. Only had two part timers and myself books keep up to date, turnover very small as i have taken things slowly. Accountant cost me £350.

I am going to question the need for an Accountant.
Do you need one.
Cant you do it yourself.
Simple In Out book.
Anaylis Book
Simplex Type Book
Simple Accountantancy Software.
If you file Tax return on line it does the calculation for you.
I agree an accountant gives your Figures more credability.
But if you our honest you have nothing to fear.
I remember getting on for 15 years ago we kept very detailed records,
Numbered and filed and cross refrenced every invoice.
Very detailed anyaliss book.
I could have got final answer in 4 hours.
I paid £1500 plus vat to find out what I new already.
I do not claim to be an accountant but I have done a few courses .
And if I was running a Multi bussiness wheeling dealing operation I would need one.

my overheads very low for first year, i did my own sales, cash flow and profit and loss records. filled out my own self assessment, and didn't bother with an accountant. I am still doing same as above, all on excel spreadsheets/word document. I update my records everyday I spend/receive, it workd for me and I haven't had any nasty letters from the Inland Revenue

. They are the UK's leeding fixed fee accountancy and tax return specialist. For £159 plus vat they will complete your sole trader accounts and tax return, they even include free bookkeeping software.

yes thats right, these days they are very helpful
what you probably need to know is are you going to do you subbing as self employed subby or paye subby, this will give you different status in each circumstance ,there is also the possiility of submitting two line accounts below a certain figure. if you are below the threshold all you have to do is keep in and out records, show both totals on a single sheet of paper and work out the difference hope this might help

I do my own accounts, its not as difficult as its made out to be and i dont have to spend my hard earned cash on an accountant theres enough to pay out as it is! any problems i have i contact the inland revenue. it works for me

Hi All
If you get an accountant to do your end of year accounts.....the bill you have to pay him comes off your Tax bill.....and you get to sit in front of the TV for the weekend. Seeing as you would have to fork out money for the Tax Man anyway, i know where i would rather spend it!!
