Where do I start
« on: July 13, 2008, 09:08:20 pm »
A Massive thanks to Dave Liahona for his help at the show he worked with me.

Talk about eye opening. 50p a sq foot. Why not?

I have some amazing leads, made some great contacts, learnt loads and really enjoyed it although I feel like I have gogne ten rounds with Len Gribble (at scrabble).

All this and did it myself. It was the direction that Dave gave me not the handing on a plate which just goes to show that we can all do this if our minds are open. Yes he added but the point was to do it myself, and guess whatt, the next show, I'll be giving Dave tips ;)

Thanks Thanks and Thanks again. I have just got in and felt compelled to say this before I ate, wee'd, showered (and even checked on my little girls)

Pete, it was a pleasure.  Best of luck with the rest of what you have to do.

Funny old world where 50p was too cheep, your face was a picture.

Best, and good luck again, Dave.

Pete wore his overalls and generally people liked the idea.  But again they liked Pete which was more than half the battle.

I of course wore my shorts and cut off tee shirt and looked my usual unshaven mess.

The reults for both of us was to secure cleaning at 50p a foot, which as I said we were told was too cheep and also fabric protection of sofas at £300 pound a sofa.

Ask Len what he thought, he saw us there.

For Petes hard work in organising the event for himself and then doing everything himself too I am confident will increase his business by £25,000 a year.  This may not happen in the first year but the ongoing effect shouldnt take more than a year to come to fruition.

£12,000 in the first year and then £25,000 for the second.  Not too shabby for 3 days work and having to listen to me talk for 3 days.

Best, Dave.

I was very surprise at the interest shown, looks like people are thinking greener more than I first thought.

There must have been way over 100k people at the show on Sunday.

Pete

Thanks for the tickets what a saving £17quid each.

Dave

Thank for the chemical now I can do the LG rug show. ;D

davep.    hoping Pete doesnt mind me stepping in and answering......

In a nut shell I find it easier to count by either 50p's or £1's.

A lady asked how much to clean one room of approx. 300 square feet so divided by two would give me the price I would have charged,  300 divided by 2 equaled the £150 that I suggested.  Pete was a bit unsure of my price and then more perplexed when the lady said that she thought it would be quite a bit more.

Pete then did the same and throughout the weekend we found no resistence to the 50p charge.

I did say to a couple of people there that it would be £1 a foot if it was to clean  similar carpet to the one I had brought as a sample to show Pete. Again no resistence.

Hope this helps.

Best, Dave.

Hi Dave,

Really nice to meet up with you again. Thanks for all the advice!

I'd also like to thank you for spending time with Pete at the weekend. He's a great bloke who loves to help others with a lovely family and you went out of your way to help him, huge respect to you! You're one in a million!

Thanks also Pete and Den for letting me crash in their spare room. Good luck Pete with all you new found advice and well done for all the effort you put in ;). Looking forward to bringing the family down in a couple of weeks ;D.

All the best,

Jason.

Shaun, if you sort your own stand out, maybe we could come up or across and help you on yours.

That way you could generate business for yourself.

Having said that, come on down as they say, next years will be better again with the experience of this past one.

Best, Dave.

P.S.  You sure you want to hear me talk non-stop for 3 days????

Poor Pete, Jason and Den.

Good luck tomorrow Pete.

Your welcome to mate but as Dave says, better that you do it for yourself. Not gonna say any more but have some fantastic leads that I have now followed up and look very promising. Don't mind coming up to yours though and see how the other half live. My mum was bought up in a mining village on Co. Durham and was always going on about bread n dripping so it would be interesting to see all that for real. ;D

I'll search for a cardboard box for you to stay in like mine.

Regards the show, I was interested in how you talk to the customers based on 50p -£1 a foot, to get tips.
