INSURANCE
« on: January 28, 2005, 06:24:17 pm »
can someone please advise me on a insurance matter, i am about to start trading within the next two weeks, but i am having trouble getting a specific type of insurance.
i can get the normal public liabilty, but this does not cover damage to the carpet or suite etc etc, for shrinkage or discolouration for the item that you may be working on (god forbid).
does anyone know of a insurance company or broker that offer this. i have not shrunk a carpet in eight years of diong this job,, but i would like to know i had some kind of protection if the worst happened.
thank you jim....

Hi Jim, and welcome to our carpet cleaning community.

I use HSBC Insurance Brokers Ltd.  0845 6052255 I carry the Treatment Risk (£2m)for cover on items being worked upon, Public Liability (£2m) and Employers Liability (£10m) which is a legal requirement if you have any employees, be they full time, part time or even just an occasional bucket carrier.

McGregor Lloyd can also help you as long as you don't do any very large commercial work. Their treatment cover is only available for £5k, £10k, and £15k. For me, the £15k package was more expensive than the HSBC £2m deal !!!

Safe and happy cleaning :)
