Got a call from a house around the corner, big 5 bed detached with conservatory, she requires a one off clean, windows were in a poor state, gave her the price very reasonable for 45 mins work due the condition, she turned her nose up and said- my previous window cleaner only charged 8 quid-, i did ask where he was now and she said he had disappeared, i wonder why!!!!

Why do some people expect you to turn up, set up and work for nothing!!! it beats me, i suggested she got hold of her previous claener and walked!!

I dont do one off cleans !  If  somone asks you to do once only clean , they are a tight wad , and deserve to look out of dirty filthy windows ( people walking past will comment how disgusted they are on looking in and not being able to see your wide screen tv ) And if you give in and do it , you will ruin your applicater

I was going to hose them down they are generally tight sods and yes there was a jag on the drive lol...

sjm i think saying some one is a tight wad just for only wanting a one off clean is a bit harsh mate and that they deserve tolook out dirty windows even harsher. every one was brought up diffrently maybe they are scruffy gits and dont want nice clean windows all the time but thats not our place to judge.

but saying that you not wanting to do them is up to you aswell. your your own man i avoid 1off's but when i started off and on quiet weeks as long as there paying i'm cleaning.

I lost a customer this week, they hadn't paid for three months.
The guy comes out of the house just after I pulled up, lifts his hand in acknowledgement, jumps in his car and sods off.
I didn't clean his windows but left a note saying that I would be pleased to carry on cleaning when he had paid his account.
He sent me a cheque having deducted the price of the stamp from his bill.
He said that he had been waiting for me to call back and collect.
They go out to work in the morning, do their day, and  expect us to be still working and collecting when they get home.
I know one thing, that job was under priced, £8 for a four bedroom detached.

He will be paying a hell of a lot more than the cost of a stamp to his next cleaner.

I had a cutomer a few months ago who approached me basically begging me to do ger windows, I said ok (since it was next to another customer anyway) but charged high as I didnt really want or need it.

I was very clear that it would be every month etc, she said yes yes please do them.

Went back the second time and she became a "not this time please" one.  Instantly dropped, which she could not get her head around.

I absolutely cant stand it when customers do that, especially when they are the ones asking you.

yea we all love those type of custies , but as for one of cleans i will only do them if i see a for-sale sign up, then i say its a complete clean fascias gutters and windows an if con that too starting price 80quid upwards or i dont do them, but to be fare i do get a few so im happy with that.

Yep its  a great saying. 

I said it thursday when a new customer came up to me.

I quoted £18 for her semi, she agreed but said her previous WCer had charged £10 .

But the reason for some one off cleans are for people renting out there properties or selling.

It is a good idea to quote double price for first clean, then at least if they blow you out , you have made a few quid

Charge double for a first clean, especially if it's not a recommend from an existing custy. Even then never less than 50% extra.

In my time i have had several muppets that say they want a regular clean and after the first clean they say no to anymore, bloody cheek if you ask me and it winds me up!!!

I have a particular street and do every house but one and guess what they were the not this time thanks brigade, its funny because they haven't been able to get a cleaner since then..
