Standing at the top but cleaning the bottoms ?
« on: June 29, 2008, 02:11:06 pm »
Imagine the scene  ::)

Youre cleaning a house and you have to get the ladders out to go over the top of the garage to get to the back... You lift the ladders over the garage then carefully place them down so you can get to the bottoms..

I have this house on one of my rounds. I clean the front WFP but need the ladders to get to the back and clean the back trade....

What I was wondering is do any of you clean the bottoms of the backs at the top of the garage..

What I mean is standing on the garage with the pole and dangling the pole over the garage to clean the bottoms of the backs......You see I have to drag the ladder round over the garage just to clean the backs and was wondering if this would save me time

But would I get the pressure on the windows to clean them

Thanks     ;D

House's like that i find its so much easier just cleaning the whole house tradition instead of mucking about withWFP front and then pack that away and getting ladder off for the back.

I used to do that but now just get ladder off and do the lot

If they wont leave the door unlocked or give you a key sack it .... period.   To many health and safety concerns like positioning a ladder from a roof - a big no no. Just out of interest how much money are you prepared to risk you health for?  :o

Have to agree with Kev. Is it really worth the hassle. Lose it or give it to a trad cleaner, make life easier for yourself, not harder. Replace it with a more suitable WFP customer as you are making life awkward for yourself. :)

I used to do one similar years ago. I used to enjoy all the climbing over the roof. Brought out the kid in me I suppose. Then one day a balcony hand rail came loose just as I was depending on it for support. It shook me up some as I looked down and saw where I would have landed and what I would likely have done to myself had I fallen. Shortly after that the customer moved and I made no atempt to regain the custom when new people moved in as the only access to the back was over the roof.

If I understand it correctly, what you're describing sounds real risky as applying pressure to the window with the brush would have the effect of pulling you off the roof, a force you would somehow have to counter.

I wouldn't risk it. Your health is far more valuable to you than a few pounds

Be safe!

I'm with M&C on this. I may well be getting too old but I don't see the point in going to all that trouble ( and risk) to clean a house when there is another house further up the road that doesn't have a climb over.

The world is full of windows, you can't possibly clean them all so just do the easy ones.

There might not be a gate.
I've got one where the only access is through the garage and kitchen, or over the top.

...and she certainly preferred it when I went over the top, rather than dragging dirty wet hoses and dripping brushes through the house.

i wouldnt bother with a house with access problems like this, realy not worth the risks involved for the sake of a few quid.i dumped all my bad access houses and it realy does make a for a less stresfull working day.

A backpack is a really good add on for a van mount on occasions just like this.

i have a few like this and its a royal pain, so when theyre in they open the garage doors for me. Its especially a pain when the guttering is on the side where you need to lean your ladder on as it could break.
I want a backpack.

Even when they do open the garage for you or you do a carry through the house it costs you so much time. Then the garage is full of junk.
