« on: June 26, 2008, 09:50:26 pm »
I think i need a wfp because i want to start doing large commercial work

I was thinking a backpack setup would probably be the best bet for me.

Can anybody recommend the best place for me to go to get all the gear i would need

I live in the south birmingham area

I have been doing large commerical contracts for years, and using a backpack on this type of work, you will be wasting you time and would not profitable

from a back pack you would only beable to  work for 15 mins before yr water ran out.

If you doing large jobs then you have to keep fill up which is a total waste of time, 100mts of microbore and a tank in the van will be twice as fast if not more

You can go ahead and buy a backpack, it will always pay it's way. A backpack is very handy for smaller stand alone jobs, but I don't think it's up to prolonged all day contract work.
If your any good at DIY, you could build yourself a trolley system that would carry 2x 25ltr containers.
By strategically placing your containers before hand, it would do the job as well as any van mount.

It all depends really on what you can afford to pay, and what size vehicle your working from.
Either way the DIY route could save you a lot of money, and there's plenty of help available on here and the DIY water fed pole site.

i'm thinking now maybe a trolley setup would be best for me.

anyone know how good a 125litre tank trolley system would be on a larger commercial job?

A 125L trolley would last most medium sized commercial jobs no problems.  And possibly bigger than a van mount in some situations.  A back pack is good but would never cut it on commercial.

hi

Try a pure freedom trolley or similar, i carry 4 , 25 litre drums and a 300 litre tank. you can use it as a van mount and have the ability to unplug from the 300 litre tank and use the 25 litre drums on the trolley . best of both worlds. I also have a 100m hose so rarely need the trolley , but there is always one job a week that it comes in handy with.

If you are talking about a 125ltr trolley then you might as well go straight van mount.

Buy a second hand 125 tank.
100psi pump
Flow controller
100 mtrs micro bore + descent garden real
a pole already piped with connector and get a couple of brushes.
Battery
Connectors for the piping.
Thats about it.

Go onto Peter Fogwells Diy site. Sorry cant remember web address.
You will get the basics on how to make your own system.

I expect some of the guys on here know his site address.

All the best.

I researched for about a month before a started buying bits.

I spent ages building a mint trolley and cannibalised it within a week to build a van system.

this was 2 and a half years ago and i've never looked back.

I live near bridgnorth and work in wolverhampton if you would like to pop over  i'll put you straight on things.

you definitely need a van system for commercials

I still haven't got round to buying a backpack!
