i have been asked to look at a scratch on a wooden floor left by builders, dont no how bad it is yet how easy would it be to rectify this problem, i only have a buffer to use if it needs sanding

Depends on the wooden floor. Is it solid or laminate and what finish it has. Once you start sanding it can become a nightmare as it usually entails sanding the whole floor as it is hard to match up finishes.
Chemspec do a range of touch up crayons and fillers which can hide the scratch without to much effort.

thanks john i no its wooden floor not lamanate but not how bad it is untill tomorrow
thoght sanding might include the whole floor i hope it is just the finish that has been damaged

If its just the finish then you can buy a chemical sander from any diy. Spray this on the damaged area and slightly around. This will give you a key for new finish to be applied.

you can buy a kit from b & q,  what it is a  hard wax coloured sticks,  you just melt it into the gap and build it up slowly in the deep scratch, we use it often as a repair ok it wont be perfect match but give it a go.
