im only 23 and im with eVan insurance, you do it all online, i pay around £300 tpft for my partner, i dont see the point of going fully comp on it unless it was new ish and worth lots. this is worth agrand ish tops

anyway...i stuck in the vivaro that im looking at on its own, and the insurance stayed the same, then i thought lets see how much for both, its a extra £50 for having them both, and if i want to do them both fully comp its £100 extra, shocked was i! thats nothing

wow i just did a quote 2500 for vivaro with 2 years no claims and 3 points........but my renewel quote is £550 with commercial van insure how can they be so different?

Be careful if you do get two vans and go back to one i did this and nearly lost all my no claims on the first van as i sold it and didnt change it over to the second van they ran as two seperate policies building seperate no claims on each policy if you understand what i mean

I have asked about this loads of times, but have not heard on anyone doing them.
There must be loads of guys like me, I'm the only driver in the house running both van and car. I can't drive both at once, in fact the mileage on the car is only about 5 to 6k a year. I have to have two separate policies and had to earn no claims discount for both. I always feel I'm being ripped off.

Also DOUBLE CHECK that you are insured to have a water tank fitted inside the van.
May insurance companied will take your money even though you tell them your WFP but with the tank fitted your insurance would be null and void so please please please double check. Thats one reason why some are a lot cheaper than others.

i think this, i think if youve put carridge of own goods why would it be null and void, they dont say to builders about theyre cement mixers and to delivery guys about theyre parcels thats its null and void, its carridge of own goods, our goods is water

Its to do with "modification of the vehicle" I was actually informed of this by an Insurance friend of mine.
I was going to go with a cheeper insurance company who had been told I was WFP but when I asked, to double check about the tank to be safe and to check he wasn't winding me up, they said "I would not be covered if the tank was fitted to the van as they do not cover this sort of modification" and 2 other companies said a similar thing.

I far as I was aware, and I did ask this when I was asked this question, "modification of the vehicle" refers to the engine, and the mechanics of the vehicle like suspension etc.

Changeing the colour, different exhaust, putting alloys on or even changing the stereo. Anything that has been changed from the original can be classed as a modification.

I personally do not think the stereo is classed as a modification, but the rest I do

If the tank was secured with ratchet straps, then surely it would be classed as cargo like many van users carry

I just went through the quote process for a Kangoo and without a  noclaims bonus it was £494 without a mod, if I added a water tank it was £710.00.

This is good information.

We have 2 vans. 1 with A Plan that covers the van and all the water fed pole equipment inside. The 2nd van is used for our commercial cleaning business (no water tank fitted). We actually got a letter from the 2nd vans insurer asking us to contact them. When we did it was to ask us if we ever carried water as this would nulify our policy. Im pretty sure they only cover professionally installed tanks as well, ie Ionics, facelift etc.
