Attack on Window Cleaner UK
« on: June 14, 2008, 01:00:26 am »
I took this from Karls Blog
h tt p://robinson-solutions.blogspot.com/   (close up the http)  Full Story

Teenage attackers have sentence reduced.
FOUR teenagers who were jailed for a total of more than 11 years for attacking an innocent window cleaner will each serve only a year behind bars after appealing against their sentence.
The gang of teenagers, all from Blackburn, admitted robbing Ian Dewhurst as he emerged from an off-licence in the town's Granville Road on November 13, 2006. Mr Dewhurst's teeth were kicked out in the attack and he had several ribs broken. All four pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court and were sentenced to terms ranging from 30 months to 38 months of youth custody in January of this year. Three of the youths cannot be named due to their young age, but Yasin Ali Khan, 18, from Preston New Road, Blackburn, who received 30 months, can be identified. The four young men appealed against the length of their terms at the Court of Appeal in London and each had their sentences reduced to two years, of which they will serve half behind bars. Lord Justice Thomas, who sat with Mr Justice Forbes and Mr Justice Roderick Evans, said their previous good character, remorse and progress behind bars justified the reductions. He told how Mr Dewhurst, 47, was left lying injured in the street after the attack by the four youths, one of whom was aged just 14 at the time of the robbery. They got away with just £10 in cash, but were snared by police because the whole incident was recorded by nearby CCTV cameras.
After the original sentence Mr Dewhurst said: "The sentence the judge passed is justice in some ways. "They have been shown this behaviour cannot carry on. "This was the second time I was attacked in two weeks - who is to say there isn't someone who will act in the same way as them? "They have affected me in a psychological way but I am pleased with the sentence."

or if there is even a hint of trouble in the air, attack 1st. Trying to walk away from situations when you're outnumbered just delays the ineveitable in my opinion. Strike 1st or run.

I agree Mark.  Your best bet is to use what ever weapons you have at hand, even a set of keys are useful.  You stand a good chance of ending up in trouble yourself, but I'd sooner that than get my teeth kicked out.

I had grief once on the middle of the day from a couple of all day drinkers asking for money.  They wern't giving up.  I ended up taking my bird poop blade out to them (what do you call that thing?) and they buggered off.  Shouldn't have to resort to that, but being nice and trying to talk your way out of it tends to be seen as weakness I think.

Well said you never know someones intentions and how far they are prepared to go

This is okay if you can handle yourself and they are not carrying a weapon get out of the situation as quick as you can or as has been said hand the money over
Before i was a w/c i was attacked by two drunks unfortunately for them i was twice their size and can handle myself i physically picked one of them up by the throat and threw them out of the shop but if one or both had a weapon of some kind and in the state they were in anything could have happened its not worth it

You shouldn't need to collect much anyway.
If so, then you're using up a lot of unpaid time.

If you worry about your safety...move!
