Hi everyone!
can anyone give me advice on starting a domestic cleaning service and how I can create a website without much cost?
I am presently a very bored and broke nurse with plenty spare time on my hands (manchester area)

I think you want the contract cleaning section which also covers domestic.

If you want to become a carpet cleaner you are in right place.

Go on NCCA training Course Do a discovery day to get an idea a marketing.

If you have not got Capital for equipment go and see Bank Manager.

Before you do that talk over your plans with business link.

In my opinion cash flow forcasts are worthless as it all depends on your marketing. If thats no good you have no Cash.

And you go broke.

Do a search on the forumn under leaflets, marketing, training equipment etc.

You will learn a lot  but the real world often turns out diffrently.

Absolutley right about Business Link, Ian.

I'm just starting out and coming from a senior financial background, thought I knew a lot about marketing, selling and everything businnesswise. Then I took the marketing course, and found out so much more about the psychology of marketing.

I went along to my local (Suffolk) Business Link, had an initial hour long chat with one of the advisors, and ended up booking up on about half a dozen different courses. I'm not sure if it's the same with all Business Links, but the one in Suffolk provides these all day courses free (with a nice lunch thrown in!) I think it's something to do with the EEC bunging them loads of cash for business start ups in the area. Manchester may be different, but it's worth investigating, and you'll learn so much.

Hi Newbie

You are lucky when I did my bussiness Link Course many moons ago we had to go Macfonalds.

My only critisim of Bussiness Link is that often the people who faciilitate Marketing Courses are from Large Companies and are not experienced at the problems a Carpet Cleaner might have,

I was checking Yesterday to see if any of this EU  Bussiness Link money can be used to fund Industry Specific Training ,  It appears Yes but only if you are Female and live in certain areas.

Princess Trust Good for youngsters Plus of course New Deal if you been out of work for six months plus I think its under 25, and over 50

John Bolton might be able to get a Grant for Scientific invovation.

Nick could probably get a Grant in Germany for importing Solutions to Uk

There was also somthing about Grants for exhibitions but regretably they had to be export related.

There are also Career Development Loans where repayment is deffered as long as you are training and interest is paid by the government during this period.

The loan has been used to train Driving Instructors, Pilots, Actors, etc.

The problem is the training provider has to have a Career Development Loannumber so that the money can be paid direct to them. The good news for the provider is they are not inspected, its up to the learner to check out provider.
