HI Guys,
can anyone help me to price up a large hospital.

What would you charge per window trad?  or do you all charge by the hour rate.

What would I need regarding method statements etc?

As Alax Gardiner said to me, £1.00 a window, double it and cross your fingers and hope you DONT get it.

Hospitals can be a night mare, we do a small one and it is an health and safety nightmare, also you have to wait around a lot if you are doing inside as well, so that has to be factored in.

Also there is a lot of bugs in hospitals, so wear gloves if poss and wash before eating yuk !!!

As for documents you have to have very comprehensive risk assessments, a generic one is hardly any use at all.

£5 million minimum insurance

proof you can undertake such a big contract, ie references for other big jobs

Environmental policy statements etc ete etc.

Everything you need should be in the tender document.

Are you trad only then? If this is a large hospital then they will get several quotes and some of them are bound to be WFP. In my mind this puts you at a disadvantage as us wfp'ers always push the h&s benefits of ladderless cleaning. Therefore the way i see it is you have to options. 1. Make sure you method statement and risk assesments cover everything and are water tight. 2. Sub contract the high level work. Get 3 quotes from local wfp companies. Go with the lowest quote but charge the highest (it's what a well known wc firm does). That way you would be back on level pegging with the competition. Yes you wont make as much as if you did it all yourself but you would be able to spend less time on it while still making a profit from it. - Just a suggestion btw! I am not trying to start a Trad vs Wfp  debate again and I am not having a go at you!

im WFP but most hospitols rounf me jus wouldnt be suitable so maybe it wont be a dis advantage.??!!

To be competitive you need to go in at about £25 per hour per man (hourly rate of say £12.50 per man and the 100% on top).  If it is a big site then you will likely be up against some big firms like Initial.  The good thing is though that these often go way over the top with price. 

If it is an NHS trust then they will have to go for the cheapest quote regardless.  As for using ladders, it depends on how gemmed up the site manager is, some won't have a clue some may insist on wfp.  If the competition are wfp which they probably are it will cause you problems.

Ipriced up 2 in midlands & nothing, we went inless than £1 (£2) per window as well
