no more window cleaners
« on: June 03, 2008, 08:51:32 pm »
on my 2nd week with me freedom trolley doing upstairs only at moment, this morning custy comes out says hi remarks about new gadget, was just going to start explaning wfp when she starts telling me how some telesales had phoned her to tell her that because ladders are now banned she wont be able to have her windows cleaned, but they have some kind of solution that they apply to windows and can they make an appointment to come round show her and put on this stuff, apparently keeps windows clean all the time, although dont know how it keeps bird crap off. anyway she declined offer but said he was very nice. so was wondering has anyone else had this cause i would like to look up firm and see what rubbish they are peddling so to tell custys. i'm in lancs area and was wondering if they were doing the area or trying nationally.

ive had 2 complaints and i have to say it when i first started i was terrible but now i have realised that i can get near perfect results on my first cleans (ive done third cleans now) by rinsing from the top right to the bottom, i diddnt have a clue before..  had a bad slow day on it yesterday though, made the crappest money i have made in about 5 years but i just need a longer hose so i dont have to cart the thing up and down steps..

Not really. It's been mentioned on various forums over the last couple of years. Not sure if it's the same stuff being sold by that lot but it was being sold for domestic customers to apply themselves. Just wipe it over glass and hey presto it repells dirt.  ;D if life was just that simple, doesn't a Teflon fyring pan need cleaning?

As for self cleaning glass, the reason it doesn't work on Con roofs is because the angle of the glass isn't steep enough.

Tell your customers to say no its the worse company in the world its easy clean with self cleaning propertys. There is no legislation coming into force its just the way they word it.

I  used rainracer on my windows 6 months ago, its impressive stuff and the glass becomes "super hydro-phillic"   .....

BUT.... its no challenge to us really as it does still need cleaning by gentle water flow whenever its dirty, and needs reconstituting/activating after 1-2 years.

I thought about offering it as a service to my non customers but decided not to as its cutting my and your throat. High earnings to apply by hand.

Not for your average guy but by high pressure selling maybe a market for country mansions with georgians/leaded etc. The guy that runs it defo knows his phobic from his phillic.

hi swolf, the stuff she refers to is ritec, put a google search and you'll find it,its been around for at least twenty years, its basicly a silicone based substance that repels water and can as such be sprayed on either in the glass shop or on site, and is as cheap as chips to set up and operate-only thing is it does wear off in time try putting a search in for "thewindowman"and click on his forum, this is a good one and if you ask these guys about this stuff they'll put your custie straight-try it mate :)
