45 psi tap , any good

Just tested my mains pressure and it is 45 psi, is that any good for an unpumped RO.

What is the average ?

I reckon that`s about average Dave,that`s why they say 40psi is ideal for a merlin to run off of a domestic tap cos it`s about the average.

I think mine was about 40psi, but my RO was so slow I got myself a pump, it works great now!! My RO is an RO Man 300.

I'm no expert either, but mine wouldn't work without a booster. 300GPD roman. Now it works great.

You've posted on this before, should you shouldn't you?You've got a very good business, invest in it as much as possible to make your life easier and standardise everything you do so that the least amount of thinking on your or anyone elses part the better./

My psi is 55 and mine R/O is 300gpd R/O man.

It was pumped but the pump packed up just have not replaced it yet.

But it works fine on 55 psi it is quicker though with a pump

I do invest, heavily at that, i kept with di because it was simple, i know what you are saying though.

on another breath, i am sick of investing in the wrong products, ie 8mm hose big mistake , got 2 reels of it, about 4 redundant poles which are not fit for purpose, brushes being to stiff to clean or 2 floppy  like a wet lettuce., hose reels without wheels, they forever fall over.

I must have £100s worth of badly invested equipment in my garage.

I am just heading off to see Alex Gardiner, so will be having a good root around his workshop to see what goodies i can find.

My pressure was 35psi and the system was so slow filling up, I then added a booster pump the psi went up to 70psi and now fills up much quicker.

it should be ok dave my pressure is only 45 psi and i dont use a pump , you could allways add a pump later if you thought you needed 1 .

Dave, why dont you get all the equipment or products you dont use any more and advertise them on here for sale,

For example id be interested in a reel and a brush!!

IMO 45 psi is a little too low to get the best from an RO

I know what you mean about wasting money on equipment. Partly due to suppliers not providing us with the most suitable/best designed equipment. Wfp is a learning curve for both. Design of certain things could certainly be improved.

The trouble with that would be the advertising and the postage, i cant find the time and when i do i cant be bothered.

If you just want an RO trickle filter system to fill up an ibc tank 1,000litre overnight, then 45psi is quite good.

If you want to fast fill then get a booster pump and all the extras.

Just remember when the spec says litres per day they mean ... 24 hour period.

In other words, when they say "produces up to 500 litres per day" that means within a 24 hour period
When they say "produces 8,500 litres per day" that means within a 24 hour period


My mains varies, but is poor at about 35psi.  Booster pushes it up to 80/85psi and I produce about 300 litres of pure per hour.

Just to complicate things my tds reading is 350 at the moment
