xl carbon fibre telescopic pole 24foot
« on: June 03, 2008, 01:27:50 pm »
Mainly trad at the moment but have been using an omnipole for the little bit of high level work I Carry out.

Recently I had to convert one of my contracts over to wfp(as instructions from the powers above) the only problem is that using a powerpole for 3 hrs is hard work so I,m wanting to invest  in a carbon pole, with all the feedback on here about  the slx its  almost a nailed on purchase but on browsing Wintecs site I noticed the above pole was over £100 less than the slx...so my question is there anyone currently using the above pole who could give us feedback or better still someone who has used both...my monthly usage from the pole would be 10/12 hrs approx ....money not a real problem cheers

I didn't think you could get one at that length - are you sure it's carbon and not a hybrid?

If this is the one you looked at then the slx is in a completely different league to it.  These aer old news really.  When your spending that kind of money you might as well just spend the extra £100.

Simon ..thats the one ..... like I said money not an issue the problem is there is no showroom in the Leeds area   displaying  different poles so you go and have a look at them....before you buy.

The pole from wintecs is not an xtel, in the picture (3 section not 4) the clamps are different.  The xtels poles are good poles, but this is an old universal pole, the clamps are really cumbersome in comparison to the xtel and the pole will be much heavier.

If you are working at that height for 3 hours solid and have the cash to spare then it would be worth going for the SLX.

The xtel 24ft hybrid might be worth a look if you don't want to spend as much cash.

If i was being honest i would say get a 34ft-44ft facelift,if money was no object you could also buy 2 base sections so you could use the pole at 24ft or 44ft.All poles rolled into 1 but expensive though well worth every penny.

Hi - I recently got the Gardiner hybrid x-tel 24ft pole - it's extemely light and I use it all day (I am female so you blokes should find it a doddle) - we also got the 35ft and that is also very light for the size and they are only just over £200 plus VAT - mind we did have our own brushes so that kept the cost down a bit

Cheers   Carey

cheers dave

got the cash to buy the pole just a bit of a pain in the arse when there ain't no merchants stocking a variety of poles etc  so you can go and compare, probably end up with Alexanders slx in the end as per the hat full of recommendations it as received on here....

Which poles were you using before? just so we can get an idea of your idea of "extremely light" ;)

Welcome to the jungle
