cant get rid of stain
« on: May 31, 2008, 09:52:51 am »
Hi everyone

Recently I cleaned an office carpet they asked me to hire a dehumidified to put it in the office when I finished the job
On Monday they called me to say the hire company took the machine but apparently the machine was leaking I went to clean the stain but when it gets dry its looks like a large coffee stain I used coffee stain removal  and it didn’t worked I don’t know if there was something leaking from the machine or the machine couldn’t drain the water

Anyone knows how to get rid of the mark please give me some advice

Thanks

Alireza

Are they carpet tiles? If so, sounds like whatever leaked onto them has brought staining through from their bitumen backing. If this is the case, theres not much you can do other than replace the affected tiles with some from a less noticable area.

Usually, an LM system would be more successful with this problem than a rinse/extract.

For myself, I never use rinse/extract in an office environment, water staining is therefore not of my own making, and any such stains encountered are easy peasy to deal with.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

THE WATER LEAKED FROM MACHINE LEAVING A WATER STAIN.
it looked like a coffee stain so i used a coffee stain removal, can you not see where you are going wrong here.

This is the hire companies fault for hiring you a faulty machine. Ask them what they are going to do about it. The office asked you to put in a dehumidifier when it wasn't probably nescessary and the hire company supplied you with a duff machine. Put the onus back on them, doen't see why you should carry the can. I certainly wouldn't.

I get calls from Water Cooler Companies with the same problem

the Office holds the Water cooler Company responsible

You could try encapsulation shampoo. Then hover up.

As Ian describes, i also carry out spill cleans for 2 water cooler companies and the office always makes the company organise and pay for the job ............ one office has had 2 leaks in same place and receptionist joked that they may move machine around each week and get reception cleaned for free  ;D

Charly's, MP and rotary ................ biggest one to date was 2 ft wide and 3 ft long, took 10 minutes from start to finish for £50 callout  ;) ....................... often do wider area to remove any risk of lighter patch, especially on traffic lanes.

i had one of these some time ago and went back 5 times to try and rectify it, same scenario, looked like it had gone then when dry very bad stain again,

it was almost definitley the bitumen or glue from underneath the tiles, and there was absolutley no chance of removing, the water cooler company had to replace the tiles in the end.  ::)

sounds like the same type of thing to me

regards
steve

The water from a dehumidifier is distilled so would probably loosen even more of the bitumen if thats whats occured.
