A form of advertising never done in great quantities is flyers/leaflets.

Been looking at some "samples" and there is a statement made on some that I cannot substantiate in my head - and therefore if questioned by anyone I would not be able to answer.

Its in relation to truck mounts.....

"10x more powerful then traditional machines" (I have seen 5x, 10x and 20x more powerful, and portable in place of traditional)

How can that statement be substantiated?

Somewhere on that page is Dave L's post where he has reproduced a report from Hydromaster that compares porty and TM power in KW.

There is a reference to the x20 power thing.

Not happy with a 20x, 10x, or even 5x if I cant explain it so I am thinking of including "many times more powerful than hire machines".

thats done on the basis the flyer is for "joe public" and the hire machine is a B&Q type hire machine.

I salute you on your ethical code. If I had a truckmount and had the information that is available I would whack it on my leaflets in a second and sleep easy. I get a bit hacked off with officialdom taking the marketing game just a little too seriously and insulting the intelligence of the average customer. ie the latest government 'crackdown' on traders.

When I sit in front of the box I am bombareded by complete and utter pooe of social manipulation and subliminal deviousness and no one complains? I really don't worry about spinning my offerrings in the best possible light.

And here's a thought, who are the masters of spin to the masses? I rest my case.

At the end of the day.    Are you telling your prospect what they WANT to hear ?

What DOES your prospect want to hear ?

We can make your look like new again / soft to touch / pleasant , fresh smell / protected from spills.....................or similar.

THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN HOW THIS IS ACHIEVED CERTAINLY NOT THE POWER OF THE MACHINE YOU USE in fact claims of " bigger / faster / stronger " will often have a negative effect, perceived as desperation by the more discerning.

SELL THE SIZZLE not the sausage.

Tell them what they want to hear and then tell them again.

So the formula is 20x power=cleaner carpets faster and drier.

or your carpets will be cleaner and dry faster because....

features-benefits is the old sales saying. Modern psychology unhinges unhealthy beliefs and reorganisises them with exactly the same principle for positive change.

Anyway, If you want the phone calls, you must give then A REASON to call you, don't think the technical jargon will do it.

Carpet guy it may be waffle to you but it's simple to me.

Things, people are a little more sophisticated these days and stuff from twenty years ago is less effective.

If it  sounds psychobable I apologies I just like to explain why things work as well as how they work, which can lead to greater results.

I know the old saying that bullpoop baffles brains, Mike, but I'm afraid my brain is far from baffled by your b*******t. If you believe in psycometric theories, you are on another planet.  Marketing is simple ..........so are people.

What are you on about ? The basics of marketing will never change. You can go back a century and the same methods of getting prospects attention at that time apply today and will apply tomorrow, because it's based on human desires and human behaviour.

There is no greater sophistication out their, just as there is no greater desire to know about  the technicalities of the machine being used. What the prospect relates to, is the person they are dealing with.

I never ever had a negative reaction to a Ninja or CFR or even an Extracta and I always guaranteed to do as good a job as any one else, no matter what they used.
