You'll need a lathe Graham.

Mr T why do you need a lathe? Its only a switch with a metal bar that turns the switch on/off when you tap it against the wall.

I have a metal lathe and I'm thinking of making my own Jets in the future and I'm looking forward to September when I can spend more time in the workshop because I'm going to have a go at making a few swivels in aluminum.

I'm sure I could make a diy version of an auto-brush, but if Peter wants to give me a decent discount on one, I will do a review on it for him, an honest one! and maybe even a video!!! What do you reckon Pete? me old mate!!  :)

I have one too, a Myford super 7 with quick change gearbox.
You can buy 6mm threaded nylon bar in metre lengths, I use this to make jets, I just dill the brush with 5mm drill and run a 6mm tap through, the threaded bar just screws in and Algarde hose fits onto the jets nicely.
Brass can be a bit awkward drilling with 2mm bits, I managed to break a few, And I used to be a toolroom machinist.

That's a handy machine jeff, what's the distance between centres?
You should have no problem making swivels with that.

Its 500mm 0r 19 5/8 in English  ;D

I still can't decide if I'm English or not, some day's I work in metric and others I work in Imperial.

I know the machine will cope with turning and milling a swivel but its the bloke operating it who will have to spend a long time getting it right. ;D

I doubt he'll go for that. He made it quite clear on the mag thread he hates reviews if they have something negative about his products. So it seems that unless a review is 100% positive then he wont be happy. Censorship maybe, but thats the case.

Well that dosn't show a lot of confidence in his product then does it? I would like to review the auto-brush, but I would be 100% honest if I did it!! If it is as good as I think it may be, then I would say so, but I would also point out any negative points if there were any! I think your right though wce, and I don't think Peter would be brave enough to let me do it!!!  :-\

Mr Tumble, is that an autobrush in the photos you posted above? If so how do you find it? and have you attached it to your Harris pole?

Yes it is and it would be to heavy for that Harris pole i think,it works better that brush on a more ridgid pole.

I used it on a bendy fiberglass pole and didn`t like it 1 bit,i then tried it on a shortish carbon pole and it worked better. If you get 1 you will need fan jets,it`s 15" wide and with 2 pencil jets your asking a lot to get and keep the bristles wet.Peter takes out almost a whole row of bristles in that brush and when you first look at it it looks as if he taken out far to many, having the fan jets turned up help it to glide over the glass better but it is more suited to bigger panes of glass.

Cheers, I won't be buying one though at £60!! I am going to attempt to make my own version of one, unless of course Peter is going to offer me a discount!! but I think thats unlikely! :( So I'll be in the shed this weekend, to see what I can bodge together!!!! ;D

Yes, it is.  I flogged it as I only wanted to examine it, take some measurements etc to see how it worked.

How did you get on with the autobrush Mr Tumble? and are you planning on making your own version?  :)
