hi groundhog, good work fella!
I really hate adding to this post as is just gong on and on but, could you explain how you've added a section to the harris pole? (Its a little unclear to me from the video clip)
I managed to add two base telescopic extensions from an old 39 ft universal onto my harris pole, I'd cut them down a bit to about 5 ft each, I had to remove the clamp fom the glass fibre no. 5 section and file away the taper inside it before the harris pole would fit but it works! I measured it at 31 ft. I have a 40 ft modular emporium though so its not really nescessary just useful with hose inside and changing heights. I have an old unger 3 x 2 m pole if thats how you've done it? If I could get a working height of 25 ft I may well do the same .

for your next project groundhog you could try adapting a backpack
so it had interchangeable tanks instead of refilling

go hoggy go!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Simon, Its quite simple really, instead of inserting a 6inch piece of unger in the end of the harris pole I have inserted a piece which is nearly 6ft long, I have drilled two holes in either end about 6 inches from the ends, the holes are so you can insert a spring clip in both ends, the type that hold the green unger adaptor onto the end of your pole, I have marked the pole so that I can find the clips easily when extending the pole. You will however need a very thin pole hose, I have some 8mm(I think) black hose that I got from cleantech some time ago, this is because the clamps reduce the space inside the pole.

I'm not sure if I have explained this very well, if your still unsure I will make a clearer video, so that you can see how I've done it.  :)

Sorry Gary but I don't do backpacks, I like to run between windows, and a backpack just slows me down!!!  :)

I want to put the heat shrink tubing on my harris pole later.

I don't have a heat gun.
But i do have a kettle, a wallpaper stripper, a steam gun thing that you can use on cookers.
A gas cooker.

Out of those which one would work the best.

Any type of steam will work. nothing that runs under 70 deg will work.
I used the steam from the kettle, get something heavy to hold the kettle switch down/in, if you use it.

Work as small area at a time and as you go along the pole.

As it shrinks turn your pole, one thing I found good, was to get the boss to pull the shrink from the end that wasn't done, this stretched it nice and tight, (you don't have to do this)

Wipe the pole before you stick the heatshrink on it, nothing worse than a bit of crap stuck under the wrap.
It will look good when its done.
When its done, put a picture up. ;)

I've had a great day today with my harris pole, the more I use it the more I like it!! I'm going to put some heat shrink on it at the weekend, and I'm also planning to make a Harris Super pole! which will not only extend to about 25ft, but will close down to 5ft 7" !! which will make it a match for any pole on the market!!!  ;D

If or when the clamps wear out or break, I have a solution to renew the clamps at the cost of a few penny's and items available in your shed.

If you know about the little clips in the Unger pole? You will well know what a pain in the rear they were, if just one of the 2 clips would even crack the pole would collapse.

I got fed up with this as I had a long drive for a couple of bobs worth of clips.
I decided to try an Idea I had and it worked a treat, so one day I'll stick some photo's and instructions up.

Sounds interesting Jeff, although I have to say the clamps on my pole seem very durable! If as you say they are easy to repair, a Harris pole could potentionally last for years!!!!  ;D
