The Harris poles seem a great choice for those out ther that use it purely for low level work, what i bargain.

Wouldnt it be helpful if someone went in to B&Q and got all the poles and the respective barcode numbers and that would save all the hassle of running around searching ;D ;D.

I have an slx because my work can be quite varied in height somedays and can save me a colossal ammount of time but i would go for the harris pole if my work allowed it,its just not a one size fits all situation.

i bought a harris pole yesturday , and used it this morning, its very light, i am using it like a clampless pole on most stuff (clamps noy tightened) this way it will last longer..

i am going to get a few more soon. ;D

i normaly use an unger pole from cleantech and the clamps need changing every few weeks :(, and the unger one makes your hands go grey >:(

i hope this harris pole lasts at least 3 months as at £15 it seems tooo good to be true

:o Wow this has to be the longest thread yet... :o

I feel like I've been on a journey!  ;D

Having read ALL the posts (taken well over a hour!)

Seems like a very useful tool, cheap, disposable and adaptable!
Love the swivel attachment idea!

I'm off to get one!  8)  8)  8)

Simon, I have been to B&Q today and purchased two more harris poles, I am going to convert one of them into a 25' pole, hopefully using a spare bit of pole from the pole graveyard in my back garden!! If it is successful I will post another video of it in use next week, along with a video of me cleaning at full speed as requested by djw I believe.

Can I help here Groundhog,
You can only do this with an outside the pole hose system.(generally ! )

Matts Diy site is down until the end of the month so heres one way of making it bigger.
Get a Ron Thompson Zensorflex from Swiftys fishing tackle £18.99 I use section 4 as a gooseneck for any modular tapered pole...... But Section 5 push fits inside the base section of the extended Harris.Wrap 8 rounds of pvc tape (blue in pic) round the top of the Glassfibre No5 to help make the pole fit snuggly inside the parallel alu base section. You have to remove the rubber grip using a screwdriver to slowly prise the glue away from the pole, its very hard work but you can then just push the grip back on when needed. I suggest you only add the modular sections when the pole is upright. Makes an actual pole of 8.5m plus your own reach of say 1-1.5m
If the pic doesnt load I will have to look at Lukes plan B for posting pics so give me time.

Also in pic is how to cut small sections of either a basic broom or an Unger No1 section. You can also slide a longer piece inside the Harris so that you can remove it at will for use on close downstairs work. Again just some rounds of tape until they wedge nicely inside.

You've given me an idea Jeff, (about extending my favourite 12' pole).

I didn't really follow everything you said, but it's good that we can all spark off each other.Expect another of my ground breaking inventions shortly!

What's the story on Matt, is he away?

Dont know, but I think its his contract thing, he has to put more money in the meter (pays for site out of his own pocket, donations welcome ! ) or we usually just wait till the end of the month  ;D

He hasn't been posting. I know he had that east enders thing in developement, and I know Portsmouth won that football match.

Other than that i'm a bit stumped.

Thanks for that Jeff, looks like a good idea mate. :)

I have managed to convert my harris pole this afternoon into a 22ft pole (approx). What I did was, instead of putting a 6inch piece of unger in the end to fit onto the brush adaptor, I have inserted a piece that is nearly 6ft long! I have drilled two holes at either end, and have fitted a spring clip? (not sure what its real name is!) in either end, this is the clip that fits onto the end of an unger pole to hold on the green threaded end piece, so for a normal house the pole can be used as normal, but if you have a 3 storey house, you just push in the lugs on the clip and extend out the 6ft piece of unger number 1 pole, and the lugs then clamp it into the holes you have drilled at the other end!

I'm not sure if this will make sense to anyone, but I will try to post a clip of it being used when I get the chance. I haven't tried it out properly yet, but it seems to work well!!  :)

Glad to have been of help Paul, thats why I have been promoting this pole, in the hope of helping some of the members of this forum, although most of the credit must go to Dai who was the first person on here to convert a harris pole, and explain how it is done.

I also bought a Harris pole today, 2 in fact, and I have converted one of them into a 22.5ft pole!! so this will be capable of cleaning up to the 3rd floor, so I will be using it on my townhouses that I do this week, I will post another video to show how I get on. The harris pole can now really compete with the slx and other expensive poles!!!

Come on slx users, lets have a video!!!! (wear a hat and sunglasses if your that shy!!!!) ;D

They are more than ok, for £15 they are fantastic!!! I liked the look of the shorter ones as well, but I prefer to use the same pole for ups and downs!

Whilst in B&Q today I looked for the stanley swivel pad that Dai posted a photo of, but I couldn't find one anywhere!! Does anyone know what section they are kept in? I thought they would be in the decorating section but couldn't see them?  ???

Thanks.  :)
