Quite right if that's how you feel, I suppose it all depends on how heavy handed we are, I would just give it a slight nudge.

Give it a try Ian, I was very surprised at just how good they are! I have used an extel but I think that the Harris is a better pole, its lighter and the clamps are easier to use, and although its early days I reckon it will last longer.
As for the speed, I really am surprised that you are all saying that I am so quick, as I said earlier I was not trying to be quick for the clips I was just demonstrating how good the pole is! We should all be striving for more speed though as we don't get paid for overtime in this game, if your interested I will post a full speed version next week.

yep its only a basic height pole but cheaper than a universal,xtel or extender
of similar height

I will get one just to try, I have been there twice now none in stock, and there is not mant on here as I know of in my area.

At that price I would be mad not to try, I know full well it is no good at high leval work I can see that in the clips but standard houses it looks fine to me, I have xtel and have snapped a few so far lol I dont mind they are cheap to replace harris even cheap maybe I will see when I get me hands on one.


As fr quick if you windows look like mine when finished I need training from you , you yesterday as I am honestly shocked at your speed and you say you was not doing it fast either.


I am all for learning, but quality cant be lowered because of speed and that would be my worry.

No offense Groundhog but that pole is nothing new,unger ali poles and others have been used for years by people.The only thing that is new is that it is £15,if it works for you fair play to you i aint knocking you but i couldn`t use it on my work as most of it is to high and that`s domestic.For those types of houses in the clips you`ll get away with it cos there not big houses,try posting a couple of clips of you using it on houses where your going to need up to 30ft or so over sloping roofs where the pole needs to be more ridgid,people will then be able to make up there mind easier you could get away with using basically any pole with windows of the height in the videos.

I never said it was anything new! but I have tried converting unger poles before and found them a nightmare to use!! the harris pole is very user friendly and a delight to use!! I am going to convert a harris pole into a 30' pole, and when I've done it I will post a clip of it in use.

I have used my harris pole over conservatory roofs when the pole has been virtually horizontal, yes it bends a litlle bit, but not as much as my predator pole or an excel or my old powerpole for that matter and the powerpole cost me a lot of money!!

Are you going to be brave enough NWH to post a video clip of you using your slx doing a similar job to me, to demonstrate why your pole is so superior to mine??

It's a bit like criticising an Escort van for not being a Transit.

The whole point is that, where a 15' pole will do the job, the Harris pole is good enough to do the job - as long as it lasts. And it seems to be good enough quality to last for a few months.

If i was going to post a clip at all it would be of me using my cut down facelift 24ft carbon,it`s the same length closed as the SLX only shorter as it`s only 4 sections.That pole is well worth every penny,it`s mega robust and the clamps are the best there is out there at the moment.The facelift pole at the height i have it at is like a broom handle for stiffness with next to no bend at all and is 5ft closed.

I used the harris over a consevatory this week, I use Gaz swivel brush's on it, I found no problems with it.

I have also have unger poles I used for trad, but looking at both sets of clamps and the way they are made, the harris clamps will out last the unger, those tiny little clips in the unger clamps break for a past time, they go brittle and snap, the harris clamp is all meat with no little clips to snap.

It's a great thread, but a lot of people seem to have gone off on a tangent.

It wasn't about speed or technique or "yours is too small to do my work," it was simply to show that the Harris pole does the job in may situations.

Have to agree with wally that you should be congratulated on doing this, I speak my mind always if I posted looking for fault this is what I was thinking not saying I was faulting you as I am not reading every post I made I would be here for months. I will try this pole when I can get one and I have tried twice now. Speed is good and if it works for you thats very good and others could well learn by defult of this post so IMo that could be win win for many.

The Harris pole is found in the Decorators section around £14.99 for the 5m and £12.99 for the 3m one.
