Can somebody build me a website??
« on: May 22, 2008, 05:34:47 pm »
Hi all,

Things are going really well for me now. I've built up my round enough to employ someone and could do with just a bit more of a professional image to help me bring in some Commercial work onto the books.

I've purchased a web domain name and asked my Brother to help me set a site up. The trouble is he's far too busy to really get stuck into it, so it just doesn't seem to be happening.

Can anyone on here build me a clean, crisp looking web site. I don't want loads of pages. Just the facts of what I do with a few pictures and how to get in contact.

I've got 2 vans running around town now with a website name on it and no website, so i'm wondering how much potential business i'm losing out on.  :'(

If any of you guys can help or know someone that can then please reply or email me.

Regards,
Lance

Thanks Guys.

Yes, it's been a while now since i've posted. I still come on every now and then to see what's happening though. It's like a little dose of comedy for me.

Hope things are going well for you too Jeff. Getting married in July now with a little one on the way in November so working my socks off to get some pennies in the bank.  ;D

Yeah i can name a couple...

www.skyecreative.co.uk or www.cleaner-marketing.com

Window washers do you hand build (code, css) sites or use templates.

all sites are unique, no templates, but I am thinking of making templates up in the future so others can do it themself.

Things are fine this end, come september this year, I'm haging up my coat, I haven't made my mind up yet if its going to be Permanent or semi, just training up my eldest daughter ready to take over.

Best of luck for your wedding day and for the little one on the way ;) hope all goes well for both events.

Hi there,

it is good that you did it yourself for £40, thing is with a website there is a little more to it than just images and text, I have viewed your site, do you get ranked on search engines ? I am not knocking you in any way just you posted and this is my reply to it.

Your images load slow, marketing is not there text is all different.

I charge my prices because I know what I am doing, little like a beer money window cleaner and a pro window cleaner

the beer money cleaner will give bad name for window cleaning.
website design is same but a little more technical than some make out..

I can see many doing this saying it dont work waste of time blah blah after a few weeks/months.

I aim to make your site work both online/offline on search engines and also for your area.

Hope this makes sence, and I hope you do not take this in the wrong way, I am straight talking and hope my point is made clear.

I've also had a look and the images load far to slow, the content also needs addressing in order for it to be ranked properly. unfortunatly there is no quick/cheap fix in websites, you need to know what you are doing otherwise its pretty much a waste of space!!

Ian do not take this the wrong way but have a look at web design companys, and branding design agents, yours does not come any where near what is possible on a small budget.

check out some design companys , where the quality of there own website speaks for itself.

www.vgroup.com/branding/index.php?gclid=CMao-fTxupMCFRlPEAodH3RmCg

www.largedesign.com/index2.php?id=76

www.fourleaf.co.uk/

www.creativitysells.co.uk/

www.cogent-design.com/

and then have alook at www.windowwashers.co.uk

first thing about web deisgn is have your own image extreme enough to encourage future clients.

Anyway what are your prices I may be interested?

Please also could you post on here just 3 of your existing clients websites, that I may have alook at to see if you can offer me what I require.

Thanks Ian.

Hi Ian,

you may not know this but I am a window cleaner too.

The design sites you show are good, and I could have the same if I wanted, which I do not and the reason being the site is aimed at the general public for window cleaning, website design is a add on I have always done way before window cleaning, marketing is something I enjoy.

The website window washers does very well I dont really need to go into why. The site is aimed for window cleaning this is what I do, I also design websites.
there are a few sites I have done that you will find on CIU also on the site. I think customers words are better than my own.

Prices are on site under site design, if you need something other than the standard packages give me a call and I will have a chat with you.

I do not do the hard sales pitch and I speak in plain english.

Feel free to call me anytime my contact details are on the home page of windowwashers.co.uk.

Thank you for your comments and maybe I will speak to you soon.

Best wishes

Ian Wicks

p.s am a little confused by what I have highlighted, I am what I am, no pitch just what I do  ;)
