I prefere a ready made pump box (cleantech) with varistream. It has 2 hoselok connectors on it- in & out + a connector for the 12v cig' lighter socket in your van. Just plug it in & away you go! Then 2 DI vessels, a tank & away you go, all connected with 1/2" standard garden hose + hoselok connectors, that's all it is.

I use cleantech pump boards and boxes (the boards a bit cheaper and has a varisrtream filter and pump on all ready wired). Some people power it using a seperate battery in the back of the van. (this is a leisure battery that is better than your car battery.

This arrangement takes the water from your tank to a hose reel.Some people put a DI in here (between pump and reel). When you turn the tap on at the end of your hosereel the pump starts up automatically.

Stop fussing, ring mike at cleantech and buy the stuff you need.

Yes the box was recomended for trialers or where it was exposed, the board for the inside of vans. They are both the same thing except that the board is cheaper and easier to work on. (there is an inlet filter you are supposed to unscrew and clean every now and again.)

When I was in Jonahs shoes i could't figure it out either. I rang mike at cleantech and he told me what I needed. I paid, and have always been happy with what he gave me.


What did he sell me? 400l tank ,pump box, resin vessel, 300gpd ro man Ro inline tds,, , 100m minibore with reel and tap on end quick release connections. hand held tds, pole, later I had to buy a booster pump.

It was about £1,100 I think and I had to ask my wifes permission. She thought it was a lot of money, and as I only had about twenty customers and had already spent over £300n on trad gear I suppose it was.

I don't know how long you've been trad Jonah but I found it very hard work. On my best day I earned about £70, but i was learning. I honestly believe that if I was trad now I could probably earn £100 most days, but I wouldn't be much over that. I found it daunting mentaly too, knowing i'd got to go out lugging heavy ladders about for a pittance.

Life's too short in so many ways. I always think, where do I want to be in five years?

If the answer is signwritten van mount then why not next year or straight away. If you think i'll earn some money first, start with a banger and work my way up you will be looking at five years.

My advice is spend the absolute maximum you can afford and get the best of everything ( within reason). A new vans a good idea, so is a system inside it by pure freedom.

If you work hard Jonah you can make a lot of money.If you worry about every penny then your road to riches is probably going to be a long one.

Sorry I couldn't help with the diagram, but i think what you need is some courage. All you can do is your best.

Thanks guys, I have read a lot of posts on here , and sometimes it can be confusing ! Just wanted to know the basic settup of a system .  I just measured the tds on my water ,and it is 78  . so think I am going to do with putting tap water into the tank , then running it through a couple of di, s .    I do appreciate all your advice

I can honestly say that I do very well with my pricing , and going up ladders doesnt bother me    The reason i am changing to wfp is , I want to work safer , and I believe you can do so much more with the pole system ,  ie cleaning frames , speed ( so i am told ) lol

keep the ro set up at home and use bigger tanks than on van
that way you can make plenty water from cheapish ro man 300 + di
transfer into van tank
the rest of its easy
its just  4 wires for a pump and varistream
lots of sites can help
ro is easy too
did mine in about 2 hrs maybe 3 max from out of box to 000tds
it runs off outside tap
pipe lagging round a hose has seen minus 8 no worries
just go for it
(is calderdale anywhere nr holmfirth....i am there all next week )
