Until recently I've been running one pole through DI straight off the tap pressure and a backpack when needed.

I didn't have the kind of work to justify getting a full system.

Anyway now I want to put a van mount system in for two guys to use.

My question is...

Should I get a 60PSI pump for each hose reel or is just one  100 PSI pump OK to run two 100m hoses?

Also - Do I need a Varistream controller or is there another cheaper way of adjusting flow control?

100psi is just the pressure the switch is set to stop the pump at - it has nothing to do with flow rate.  you can run 2 poles off a 40psi pump if you want as long as the flow rate is high enough (7ltr/min minimum) but honestly a pump for each pole is the only way to go - much mopre control, better flow, more reliable and you don't suddenly get twice the flow when the other person shuts their pole off.

as for flow control I would recommend the varistream, others on here use valves and all sorts to control flow but we've always felt the varistream is the best.

Also with using 2 pumps they will be ticking over rather than working full out. Pump life will be maxed out and a breakdown far less likely.

With 1 pump you are far more likely to get it failing and then there will be two people earning nothing until a replacement can be obtained. In all probability at least 2 days work lost. Also if you did get a problem with 1 pump you could quickly cobble together to work two from it temporarilly so minimum loss of earnings.
