From Barrel to Static Tank
« on: May 20, 2008, 09:57:00 am »
I've just fitted temporary 250litre tank in the back of my van, until I have a custom one made.

However, the thing I noticed was that the pressure of the jet coming out the brush was significantly higher than when using a 25litre barrel.

This remained high until the level the tank dropped to around a 1/4 full, and I could tell the pressure had backed off to what I'm used to.

This isn't really a problem, as I can contoll the flow rate from my hose valve.

But I figure I'm going to be using more water than I expected.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Thanks

Marc

maybe thats just because with the barrels the pump has to suck the water up and through, rather than on the 250 its almost gravity fed?

I had the same thing when I used barrels, pressure was lower.
if barrels had a bottom feed pipe then I think this would make them the same.

in your 250 tank do you have an air vent on the lid?

Yes , at the moment I'm still running the trolley from the tank - in that I using the 250 tank as a whopping great barrel with the hose fed in from the top.

But, thats all going to change very  soon ;)

Just makes wonder if I should order a 400litre custom tank, rather than the 350 tank I had in mind - only because normally with barrels I on average use 300 litres a day with the trolley system.

always go for the biggest tank you can get that is safe for your van, it is better to have to much water than run out on last job.

I have a 650l tank, next one is going to be either 800 900 or 1000l depending on the van I get I have run out once
