650l tank in my Scudo?
« on: May 19, 2008, 06:25:47 pm »
I've got a 400l tank at the moment, but I often run out of water by mid day and have to go home to use the transfer hose.
This was my plan all along, but it disrupts my day. The transfer may only take 10 mins but to travel back or interupt my day is proving expensive.
I took my log book to the dealer today to check the max load carrying. It's a 2litre SX JTD, and and as far as they could tell the permitted max load is 900kg.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

yes your payload is 900kg

you can easily fit a 650ltr tank, especially if you work alone.

we have a HDI Expert (same van) with a 650ltr tank, no problem at all.
I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!

I usually get these sorts of things from cleantech.

I think i'm right in saying the 650 flat tank is the same dimensions as the 400 but higher. Presently I mount my reel on top of the tank and work via the side door. Will this still be possible?

Do you sell those Sair? How much?

Would it fit on top though? Bear in mind I'm not a hand cranker.

it says 400l    360mm   1010mm  1250mm          30kg               430kg

            600l    575mm   1010mm    1250mm         42kg             692kg full

SO it should be 215mm taller, which I think would be okay, and may even be a better working height.

Whats that coming out the base of the tank that the hose lock fits too?

All i've got is hose jubileed over, yours looks better.
l
Also I want to put another filter in there to stop bits, I see you have one on your pump board, so have i, but I want another.

Its a filter to stop any bits from the tank and i cant remember where i got it from as its been laying in my shed for years.

That was smart intentional or not. Ive had a lot of problems with 'bits', and I suspect these make my varistreams have funny turns. I do have a strainer on my pump board like you but I think stuff still gets through.

After my pump is the heater, and i suppose this must be easy to block or clog or impede and thereby give the varistream a false cut off.

Can anyone suggest a suitable inline filter after the tank?

hiya. are you guys sure a 650 litre tank is ok?

mine's 525 litres (400 + 125). in the morning it weighs 2380kg gross, 50kg overweight. the max gross for a 2.0 jtd y reg is 2330kg

or are you all talking about the new scudo/expert with it's larger weight capacity?

you aren't carrying gold bullion or something around in your van dave?

I checked mine at the weighbridge and it was under capacity with a 650ltr tank and 2 of us in the van.

that was a full tank of water, 2 people, all kit etc in as well.
