is it worth it or not, I have been a member since 2002 and never met anyone who knows what they do
quite a few know of the NCCA
so is it worth rejoining?

I think that people see NCCA as UK and IICRC as US ............. some feel the UK version more appropriate  ;)

and visa versa  ;)

the future advantage of been an iicrc member will give you the benifit of cleaning commercial carpets without the makers warranty been affected.
In other words the manufactures will be insisting on a iicrc members only cleaning the said carpets, other wise the warranty will be invalid.

now thats surly a good reason :-\   if it is infact coming into force in the future.

Nobody has Ever asked about IICRC in the commercial envoiroment
im a bit of a losss as to how being a member will make any difference to the manufacturers
surley being a NCCA sholud be enough?
or has anyone ever come across the warranty issue while doing commecial?

Never had a customer ask about a manufacturers warranty before cleaning it, perhaps they know that I am a NCCA member  ;)  I agree with Chris on this one, I get customers directly from the NCCA site and because I use my membership in our marketing, well worth joining.

I never said that commercial customers ask you for iicrc membership

I did say that in" the future the membership will be benificial" because newly installed carpets will carry the warranty providing they are cleaned by a member. and void if not , no reason to make it up ,only what i was told could be happening by the IICRC .
strange though I have never been asked if i was a member of the ncca ;D but have been asked if a member by the iicrc , yes by a national chain of serviced business centres, and also insisted the carpets were not h/w/e cleaned as this too voided the warranty .

Tap in carpet cleaning on a UK Google search, NCCA number one, IICRC....er....still looking....nowhere.  :'(

What would a customer put into a search to 'discover' the IICRC then??

A regional or even town search wouldn't show it either.

Thats exactly what one of my recent clients did,
He went to the NCCA website doing what Spencer pointed out, clicked Find A Cleaner, then North West region, clicked on the link to my website, liked what he saw, phoned me and booked me - even though I was 40 miles away and some largish towns inbetween like Blackburn, Burnley, Bolton, Preston etc.

That one job paid for my first year subscription with a bit left in my pocket thank you very much.

Colin

Now what is it that you do? ;)

Geoff

Who told you that  ???(because newly installed carpets will carry the warranty providing they are cleaned by a member) also would this include daily maintenance Mr Henry.

Only time I would not use hwe is when there is a void. :D

Like the idea of Bics one get an NVQ customer know what NVQ stands for. 8)

Joe

Must get me a web site ;D

The warrenty thing is a USA hang up, Dave Leahona will fill you i o it. They try to get out of every thing i the States or sue the arse off you. The UK has not got to hat stage yet thank god.

Bear in mind the owner must keep the right maintanence i place for the warrenty to stand, ie regular vaccing with the correct machine, regular cleaning ( 3month,6month 12 month dependant on usage), not allowing contact with direct sunlight etc etc etc.

We call it just covering your arse  ;D

Spencer and Pete,

so you are saying you dont believe me, well thats up to you,

now what part dont you believe?

the part where I stated "if I was  member of the iicrc"
the part that said " I couldnt h/w/e "

or was it the part that said " I have never been asked if I was a member of the ncca"?

or even, every word of my reply you didnt believe :)

and, well done Joe for getting a job from the ncca ........ 40 miles away too , just goes to show how the ncca website works so well then , doesnt it ;)

I wonder why all the ncca members within eighty miles didnt get a call ;D

I wonder which part  ::)

If you fill the page with waffle it may detract from the point made, which is

'How on earth would Joe public know anything about the IICRC'

They ask you about the IICRC but never the NCCA...... the odds of that happening are pretty slim.

How did they know??? I cant find any advertising in the local YP or Thomson Local either.

As Chris said, if you are in the US then fair enough.

When you've done the IICRC training then it's chep to have, the training is £200 per course and takes 2 days per course but the wealth of knowledge is fantastic, more theory than practical which means you can waffle your way around the customer :o

But the IICRC hasn't done in this country what it has in the US, things are slower by far over here I don't think both of teh organisations would get away with it over  there.

The part I found surprising was the fact that they would only warrant a muck spreader and not HWE.

Joined the farming community Pete ? In spite of Liahonas status on here his muck spreading comment is unjustified, as any user of bonnet mopping systems, who does it properly will agree.

There are a fair number being converted to the method across the pond where it's more established than here

I used a Texatherm system a couple of years ago and was astonished at the SOIL REMOVAL that resulted.

The emphasis being on removal, not just moving around.
